Braxton (Huber Heights Wayne) and Trey (Springfield) have likely known each other for years just due to their proximity and likely camping together. It's entirely possible he mentioned something that could been taken in a certain way just because it was between friends/acquaintances....

Braxton is from Springfield, transfered to Wayne. He and DePriest have been boys for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if it came up while they were hanging over winter break.
