WR Dane Sanzenbacher (Official Thread)

If Gonzo goes in the first round, how does Sanzo go undrafted? I'm not saying Sanzenbacher is better, but there are obvious similarities. And not because they're both white. Sanzo has a lot of the same qualities that Gonzo had. Even their nicknames. Both very reliable, not blazing - but they don't need to be because they run such good routes. Good hands, fearless, great character.

The NFL obviously needs a Rooney Rule for Caucasian WRs it seems

Dane's play reminds me quite a bit of Lance Moore, who currently plays for New Orleans. It was either Moore's junior or senior year, but he lead the nation in catches while he was at Toledo. Never drops the ball, always out-hustles his opponent, plays smart, makes the athletic catch, has an amazing work ethic.

Went undrafted.

Killing it with the Saints and has a Super Bowl Ring. Made one of the most amazing plays I can remember in a Super Bowl when he literally stood on his head to reel in a 2-point conversion. Not even the refs could make the call... replays reversed the call and gave the Saints the points.

Knowing the drive and talent that Sanzo has, we can tell the talent evaluators and scouts to eat crow when Dane is not only starting for an NFL team, but thriving and doing big things for his team like he did here at Ohio State.

I cant believe he didnt get drafted. I can remember so many catches this kid made while getting pounded and still making the catch...no doubt his skin color played a role here.

Good luck Sanzo, hope you get a chance to prove these scouts wrong!

Excellent point. I was just about to bring up Lance Moore as well. Moore is a small guy just like Sanz, even smaller. I can see Dane turning out like Lance!

So if Cam Newton didn't get drafted #1 overall, the owners and GM's are racist? But one of the most productive receivers in the country can go undrafted and that's okay? I'm just saying, if Dane was African American, he would have went no later than the second round...

I don't watch the NFL but this sucks. Smart, great hands, great teamate, great route runner, great blcoker, and hustles on every play.

The need to rewatch the SB and see him hustle after Pryors fumble. We don't get that hustle play we lose the game. Thats play single-hnadedly changed the game. Hes at least worth a chance on the 7th round.

IMO somebody will be kicking themselves. If I were him I would try to get on with the Patriots.

Probably sign with the Steelers or Ravens. Love to see him and Boren sign with the Browns.

I would have loved to see him play with the Brownies, but anywhere would have been OK. Keeping it postive here, he entered Ohio State on a bus ride and willed his way to be one of the best Buckeyes ever. I suspect that he hasn't lost that will and can find what it takes to be another success story. The bus journey isn't over and there are many stops left before he gets home.

Someone in the NFL missed a very good football player, but there's someone who might read these posts and wonder why we all felt he was overlooked. This doesn't make sense.

This seriously pisses me off. Fuck the NFL. Greedy self serving racist bastards. Dane is so much better in so many ways than so many of the receivers drafted in this years draft. He'll get picked up and will flourish in the NFL, in my IMO.

But seriously even look at his fucking combine results:

http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/dane-sanzenbacher?id=2495338#tabs:tab-analysis

#3 in 3-cone drill
#6 in 20-yard shuttle
#4 in 60-yard shuttle

And he goes undrafted?

Meanwhile, teh gratest ikon n intertaynr n football prostitute goes #1 overall?

Fuck em, I say. I hope the lockout never ends and everyone is instead forced to focus on the far more satisfying and exciting football league where it's less about politics and more about raw talent.

There is no chance that he won't be invited to camp with somebody. Like you say, he has the intangibles - and the hands - to become a great possession
receiver in the NFL. Somebody will be getting a steal. I hope he goes to New England as a free agent.

Our version of Dane is Chaz Henry. Somebody will wind up letting him kick in camp, and once they let him in the door, he ain't leaving without a punter's job.
