Love how he always answers "Sir" first...you can tell he is all business, a leader, competitive, and focused. Beyond that...yikes he is an athlete. All the people thinking we don't have a playmaker in this class yet are a joke. Jalin is a sure-fire 5 star gamer and I don't need a guru to tell me that (this coming from a close follower of the rankings). Once he gets settled in at the "pivot" position (I prefer the official name over "Harvin"), he is going to dominate here. What a performance.

Jalin Marshall's law: OSU off the charts
September, 2, 2012
By Brad Bournival | ESPN.com

Jalin Marshall (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) has been to his share of Ohio State games, but what the Buckeyes commit saw Saturday might have taken him over the top.

Recruited as an athlete and along for the ride with other Ohio State commits Darron Lee (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) and Cam Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison), Marshall caught the Buckeyes bug and it bit hard.

On an unofficial visit -- Lee and Burrows were there unofficially as well -- Marshall took in the first game under the Urban Meyer era and felt the fervor.

?Everyone was excited to be there,? Marshall said. ?They played hard. They all wanted to be there. Those guys have been working hard the whole year to get to that point.?

Scout.com has officially moved Jalin from their RB rankings to WR. He now has the #4WR spot on their board, behind Robert Foster at #2 and James Quick at #3. Could be an unprecedented year for Ohio State here - have we ever brought in two top 5 WRs in the same class?

Looking through Scout's records back to 2002, it looks like DeVier Posey is the only WR we've brought in who was ranked in the top 5 at his position. (obviously Ginn would have been, but he was filed as a corner at the time)

It should almost be under a different category based on how he will be used at tOSU. Think of Philly Browns position where he gets motioned into the backfield....except Jalin will get the ball a lot more on pitches and designed runs. Philly is more of a pitch-man threat.

James Quick and Bob Foster are outside WR's, IMO.

I don't think Scout uses an "athlete" designation, but I agree that is what he should be. He is no more WR than he is RB. Is a hybrid. Foster and Quick are true WR.

Maybe Reggie Germany and Ken-yon Rambo?

Quarterback Jalin Marshall, an Ohio State recruit, is piling up the stats as an elusive runner for Middletown.
By Bill Rabinowitz
The Columbus Dispatch Friday September 7, 2012

Jalin Marshall lives by a strict code these days: He gets his rest during the week so he can run wild on Friday nights.

Not in the streets, mind you, but on the football field for the Middletown Middies, for whom he is the do-everything quarterback. That explains why Marshall, already committed to Ohio State?s 2013 recruiting class, is in bed by 9:30 almost every other night of the week.

?I just try to keep my body in the best situation,? Marshall said. ?If you don?t get your rest, you won?t be able to produce like you need to in practice and the games. So I just try to maintain a healthy lifestyle and get plenty of rest.?

That approach has paid dividends through the first two weeks of the season. Entering last night?s game, Marshall had rushed for 377 yards, averaging 11.4 yards per carry, and scored three touchdowns. He also had passed for 199 yards and four scores.

?I think things are going real well,? Marshall said of his senior season. ?We work hard every day on getting our offense right, and I think it?s paying off.?

The quarterback?s stats speak to why OSU coach Urban Meyer and most other college recruiters have pegged the 6-foot, 195-pound Marshall as a versatile running back/receiver ? ?athlete? is the term used by recruiting services ? instead of a quarterback at the next level. Rivals.com ranks him as the No.2 ?athlete? in the nation among the 2013 prospects.

Meyer sees Marshall as a playmaking hybrid back who would fit nicely in the Buckeyes? spread offense.

?You look at where Jalin does his most damage, and it has been with his legs,? 247Sports recruiting analyst Bill Kurelic said. ?That?s not to say he can?t pass, but he is just 6 feet tall, and he doesn?t have what you would call the prototype passing skills.
