WR James Jackson (transfer to Wayne State)

Good pickup. He never seemed to get a relationship with the new staff at Michigan and seemed to love CBus after his visit. Not much more you guys could have hoped for. The kid can fly and run the deep route but that seems to be the extent of his route running skills up until last year. If he learns a double move like Manningham had, it could be deadly. A lot of people that scouted him compared him to Mario with a little better speed. He should be a good one for you guys.

College football: Michigan prospect picks Ohio State

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

James Jackson, a top receiving prospect, delivered Ohio State an offseason victory over Michigan last night. Jackson, of Grand Ledge, Mich., committed to Ohio State's 2009 football recruiting class.
He actually picked OSU over UCLA. He said Michigan had faded from his list after Lloyd Carr retired as coach last year and was replaced by Rich Rodriguez.
"The old coaching staff, I really liked," Jackson said. "The new coaching staff, I really couldn't get a feel for."
With 4.31-second speed in the 40-yard dash, Jackson (6 feet, 175 pounds) likely was coveted by Rodriguez for his spread-option offense.
But he said he likes the offense Ohio State runs, too.
"I decided to commit just because (of) the feeling I had inside all along since the first time I went to the Ohio State campus in March," Jackson said. "The feeling never really went away. I just feel like Ohio State is the place to be."

But ever since an unofficial visit to Ohio State in March, the Grand Ledge junior speedster knew he wanted to be a Buckeye.
On Monday, he made it official. Jackson verbally committed to Ohio State, picking the Buckeyes over UCLA, Michigan State, Michigan and Iowa among others.
Although Jackson missed parts of last fall with injuries, he remains one of the state's fastest players when healthy and expects to play receiver in college. He's played that as well as running back and cornerback for the Comets.
"You can ask my dad, you can ask my coach, but (Ohio State) never really left me since the first day," Jackson said. "They can put me in a position to win and the best situation to go to the next level."
Jackson is ranked the fifth-best junior in Michigan and 185th nationally by recruiting service Rivals.com. He is ranked fourth and 148th, respectively, by Scout.com.
A left hamstring injury has kept Jackson from running much this spring track season after he won the Division 1 state meet 100-meter race in 10.94 seconds as a sophomore. He came back to set Grand Ledge's 400 record in 49.3 seconds a week ago, then re-aggravated the injury Saturday in his second time running the 100 this season.
He will try to run again at Saturday's regional.
He's grown about a half-inch and gained eight pounds since last fall to get to 5-11 1/2 and 178, respectively.

"I just told him I want to be a Buckeye," Jackson said Tuesday.
As a sophomore last spring, Jackson, 5-foot-11, 178 pounds, won the Division 1 100-meter state title in 10.94 seconds and drew football recruiters from across the country before settling on Ohio State.
"To tell you the truth, they had what I was looking for in a family atmosphere," he said. "That was going to be the big decision in choosing a college. I just felt like: 'I can be here.' "
Jackson had considered UCLA, Michigan and Michigan State and visited those schools.
"We flew to UCLA a couple of weeks ago," Jackson said. "I enjoyed the trip, but it was too far away from home, so I really couldn't do that. I really have great respect for Michigan and Michigan State. It was hard to tell them no.
"I gave all the coaches in my final four a call."
Jackson also will attempt to run track at Ohio State, but his main focus is on football.
"All I can think about right now is football," Jackson said. "I'm ready to start June 9 and hit the weight room every day."
