losing QB that was on pace to set every school record in yardage
losing one of the best college football coaches of all time
losing 3 starters (at key positions RB, WR, LT) and a key bench player for the first five games of the year.

+probation
+vacating wins
+possible recruiting losses in the most fertile class in ohio hs football history

ncaa most likely to tack on scholly losses and maybe a 1 or 2 year bowl ban to appease the public.

sounds pretty harsh for some discounted tatoos and not forwarding an email :)

Losing your QB and coach is a by-product of what happened, not a punishment for happened.

Drunk drivers who crash their cars don't get to say to the Judge "Yeah! but look at my car! It's ruined! That should be punishment enough!".

Vacating wins and probation is what they tack onto the end of the real punishment - not the punishment itself.

I think the self-imposed sanctions are right. I mean we lost one of the best coaches, even though he did commit violations (the Vest will be missed), the car scandal has been cleared, the "biggest" trouble maker is gone. I think vacate wins and probation is about right.

It seems to me, and it hurts me to say this, but the guy who should have reported the stuff is now gone from the University, and the player who was in the spotlight with possible/probable violations is also gone. It kind of feels like a new slate, even though I feel like there's some others that should have been let go as well.

As for OSU in the media's eye, no matter what we did, we were stuck in between a rock and a hard place. If we went hard with self imposed and NCAA "lessened", media would say we got off easy. If we went on the lighter side in hopes of convincing the NCAA that the causers of the problem are gone, it looks like we aren't doing enough. As far as I'm concerned, ESPN can eabo.

Ah, but you're discounting having to hear Mich1gAAn and SEC fans gloat about their "wins" last year. That's just awful.
Oh behave Mali, that's just not correct....

The official line is that "you can't beat us without cheating!!!!!" Get your smack straight.

Someone shed some light on me as to why ya'll are complaining about vacating wins? I'm not saying good we are, but I'd rather have that than the hammer come down upon us, lose scholy's, postseason, big ten title shots. Again, Im not happy we have to, but it's the lesser of the evils IMO.

I made a post in the past few weeks what I expect the punishment would be. If OSU stepped up and said a post season ban of one year, 4 years of probation, and a reduction of 6 scholarships over the next 3 years (2 a year) the NCAA probably would have been fine with that, but no let's show we learned nothing. So stupid. You're now forcing the NCAA to give a proper punishment.

Hell Michigan's self imposed punishment was worse than ours for not filling out compliance forms and improper practicing time limits.

I don't care about the wins, I care about 7 in a row, 9-1, and our first SEC bowl win.

They were vacated from the record books, not from my ticket stubs and not from my DVR. However, if they're going to say the games never took place at all, the NCAA owes us a lot of money. I'm sure we would like a refund for every dollar given to purchase merchandise specifically for each event, thanks.

When the NCAA acknowledges this, I will acknowledge their 'vacated' nonsense. 'Til then, my wallet says those teams were defeated.
