Wetzel(Yahoo Sports?) Today, seems to think that unless Tressel drops a bomb, we'll skate.
Skate. Yeah, losing a HoF coach, 12 wins, 4 players (including two sure all-conference and 1 potential All-American) for 5 games and a probable Heisman candidate QB altogether is "skating". These media people are fucking idiots.

Assuming the penalties aren't much worse than what's been self-imposed, expect a deluge of stories saying "Emmert was soft on tOSU because he's friends with E. Gordon Gee".

Emmert was "associate vice-chancellor for university affairs" at Colorado from '85-'92, and Gee was president at Colorado from '85-'90.

I still expect the NCAA to grab a scholarship or six, but I think that'll be the worst of it. A one year bowl ban isn't out of the realm of possibilities either.

A bowl ban with no failure to monitor or LOIC would be pretty unprecidented, I believe.

Agreed, but here's why I think that.

Because Coach Tressell didn't fess up when the decision was made to allow the Tat-6 to play in the Sugar Bowl, that decision was made under ... incomplete information so to speak.

Had the full nature of the situation been revealed, I doubt they would have been allowed to play.

I don't think it out of the question that the NCAA would see that as worthy of a one year ban.

But, I'm an idiot, so what do I know?

Is there a link, or was that a comment on a radio show? And did he use the word 'skate', or is that your interpretation?

Wetzel has been off base on this story previously.
