  1. '10 AU P Jay Karutz (E. Michigan Signee)

I must not have expressed the idea clearly, wadc45. The idea is he would be on scholarship his first year. During his first, on scholarship, year he would have to prove his worth for years 2,3 and 4. Otherwise, no scholarship in year 2. Doing it this way lowers the risk for OSU and at the...
  2. Seantrel Henderson (Buffalo Bills)

I did a double take when I read "The U" was back in it. Then I saw that the C-D coach was referring to Minny. Do they really refer to Minny as "The U" now? :D
  3. '10 AU P Jay Karutz (E. Michigan Signee)

I doubt a a OSU has the space, but an intersting twist would be to offer him a "one year" scholarship with the opportunity to earn a further scholarship. Now it is well known that all scholarships are for one year, renewable annually. But at most schools, they will continue to renew a...
  4. '09 VA OL Morgan Moses (Virginia Signee)

No one has to sign a NLOI, even a recruit coming right out of HS. It is purely an optional (but advisable) program. You cannot sign more than one NLOI in any given year, but I don't think there is a problem signing more than one in consecutive years. I will check.
  5. '09 VA OL Morgan Moses (Virginia Signee)

IMO, if FUMA is saying he has more work to do, then Moses has yet to qualify under NCAA stabdards. I doubt they would try to project how he would do with OSU admissions. Interesting strategy would be to try to get him to sign a NLOI and have him return to FUMA. The NLOI would still be binding...
  6. '10 AU P Jay Karutz (E. Michigan Signee)

IIRC, there is some other video on YouTube that purports to show yardage and hang time on his punts.
  7. The BPRT - Final Picks

There has been a thread about Karutz over on the premium Scout board, but no one has seen fit to create one here. Have any of the BPRT gotten more info on this guy?
  8. 2010 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Look, I tried to distill down the issue into the essential point. Helwagon never said anything about a "preferred walk-on" nor does the NCAA as you properly note. However, a recruited student athlete is a different story entirely. Any recruit who makes an official visit is a recruited SA...
  9. 2010 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Helwagon is technically wrong, but what he is referring to is not an urban legend. Bylaw 15.5.1.2 Football or Basketball, Varsity Competition states: In football or basketball, a student-athlete who was recruited by the awarding institution and who receives institutional financial aid (as...
  10. '10 OH RB Erick Howard (Ohio U Walk-On)

George was at FUMA for a total of four years (Wikipedia, among other sites, says five). He attended his sophomore, junior and senior years and then decided to attend a 4th year as a post-graduate. about3
  11. Tajh Boyd (official thread)

I know one thing - I sure wish OSU could recruit DTs like Oregon has in recent years. :D
  12. '09 PA OL Eric Shrive (Penn State Verbal)

I did a little bit of Internet research for pictures of Shrive and I and my son (who was with me) are now almost certain it was him. It definitely was not Linsley.
  13. '09 PA OL Eric Shrive (Penn State Verbal)

I believe I saw Shrive at the jersey scrimmage. Big, almost lanky kid. Definitely saw Zach Domicone there.
  14. '08 OH OL/DL Patrick Omameh (Michigan Signee)

Patrick Omemeh Offensive Line / Defensive line Columbus St. Francis DeSales Height: 6-foot-4 Weight: 236 lbs Forty: 4.85 secs Bench max: 285 pounds Squat max: 425 pounds Academics: 4.0 GPA; 28 ACT Committed to Cincinnati in July. A name to watch as Signing Day approaches....
  15. '09 AZ DT Corey Adams (Arizona State Signee)

Apparently not quite the lock to get a very early OSU offer as once as thought. I am not sure how to interpret his most recent statement that he is not waitng for any school.
  16. '09 OH LB Will Studlien (Northwestern signee)

I am not going to get into a detailed tit for tat with someone who obviously is a big BW fan. My opinion is just that. I could be wrong, could be right. Anyone who follows OCC football knows about TW's history and they are generally pretty sorry, period. I am not trying to downplay BW by...
  17. '09 OH LB Will Studlien (Northwestern signee)

My son and I attended the first half of the TW game to check out Will. Here are my less than informed assessments of Will, FWIW: 1. TW was a typical TW team. Short on talent and - as a team - short on competitive spirit. I don't know why, but TW has been the polar opposite of WK over the...
  18. LB Etienne Sabino (official thread)

As I understand it there are reasons why Sabino may be an exception, but when a recruit only has one northern school on his list (in this case OSU), the recruit usually doesn't come north. Obviously OSU is putting up a good fight, though, so it will be interesting to watch this one play out.
  19. TE Nic DiLillo (official thread)

...and a good argument can be made that Barton never was a TE that might "slide down." Barton played TE in a classic wing T offense which, in effect, made him an OT. He RARELY went out for a pass. He was recruited from the beginning as an OT candidate, not as a TE.
  20. '08 OH OL Tim German (Bowling Green signee)

I don't think DL's position is that he is expecting an offer for German, only that German has appeared on the OSU radar.
