Joe blow
Couldn't have said it better myself... I think the lack of a title game has been very beneficial for the B10 and Ohio State in particular... I bet Alabama wishes they didn't have a title game.
Thanks, I don't have a membership to BN and wanted to make sure I was reading between the lines correctly. The whole terrele, corvette, I wish our staff could recruit jargon made it a little ambiguous.
Gardner
One thing to consider is does the commitment of Boyd effect the Devin Gardner recruitment negatively for many of the same concerns Boyd has about playing time, etc.? Gardner has many of the intangibles Boyd, Pryor, and Troy Smith brought to the table. 6'4, 195 as a junior with plenty of...
He is home schooled... many top juniors who travel have to get their high school degrees this way. He would still have to take the SAT or ACT to get into college which carries just as much or more weight than grades.
Beany
This may have already been mentioned, but in my mind it would be beneficial for Beanie to return. I have seen mock drafts that have him going off the board in the late teens. If he were to come back, stay healthy(?), and put up the numbers we know he can, he could go in the top 5 similar...
If I recall correctly, we didn't offer him because we made a promise to Devoe Torrence from Massolin that if he committed he would be the only RB we would take in his class. It was too late after Torrence lost his offer due to off the field problems. Regardless, Sam is a great player and will...
Mo vs Beanie
I can see your point but don't necessarily agree with your logic. Eliminating Beanie's longer runs before comparing their stats/ averages doesn't give a fair representation of what he can do. Taking the offensive line and QB play into account, I don't think you can penalize him...
OC
I agree with most of the posts that say Tress is never going to force out a guy like Jim Bollman. I think "rearranging" the staff is what will likely happen. My hope is that he brings in someone that will change the culture of the offense and give a largely under achieving offensive unit its...
Herd?
I'm sure Colin does have a source that is telling him that... That doesn't make that source correct. The truth is no one knows what Beanie's status is except for Beanie, Tress, and a few select individuals. Further more, even that could change drastically before kick off.
Whatever the...
red zone
I think Beanie plays in the red zone... That is where tOSU always seems to struggle and settle for field goals. I think Pryor, Saine, Boom, and Mo Wells provide the rushing attack between the 20's and Beanie comes in as part their new ponyback set with Saine or the I on the goal...
Yep, that was kinda my point. You can't use stars alone... Certainly they are an indicator of who's got potential to play on the collegiate level but not the end all be all. That being said, Dorian Bell is a great pickup and reason to get excited.
Linebacker U
I don't know about that... PSU linebackers may have more stars but you can't look at position rankings alone when comparing the two. AJ Hawk and James Laurinaitis were both 3 star players coming out of high school according to Scout.com. Paul Posluszny and Dan Connor were great...
LB
I see your point but I'll still take as much depth at LB as possible. Mike D'Andrea is a prime example of how injuries and other factors can ultimately decide a players future regardless of potential or how many stars they have.
"Big Ten Speed" in 2009
It would be nice to have 4.4 speed at every position...
QB - Terelle Pryor (4.4)
Tailback - Beany Wells (Who cares about his forty time)
Tailback/ Slot Receiver - Brandon Saine (4.4)
Slot Receiver - Flash Thomas (4.4)
Receiver - Ray Small (4.4)
Tight End - Jacob...
I understand what you are saying but part of the fun of following the recruitment process is the "speculation" that goes into where each player ultimately ends up going. I guess I don't understand what the big deal is... Honestly, there would 2 posts on this thread if every posting had to meet...
