Perhaps there isn't a high school in the area that college football recruiters are more in tune with than Morgan Park.
The Mustangs boast several seniors who are Division I prospects, including linebackers Sam Porter and Phillip Brown, cornerback Melvin Rice, safety Lester Richmond and wide receiver Orlando Moore.
The Mustangs (4-0, 1-0 Illini Prairie State), the No. 1 team in Class 7A according to The Associated Press, have wins over Mount Carmel and Richards. Morgan Park's most recent victory came Friday night, a 34-12 verdict over Hubbard.
Moore (6-foot, 180 pounds) has scholarship offers from Michigan State, Maryland, Bowling Green and Northern Illinois. He has received interest from Iowa, Wisconsin, LSU, Miami (Ohio), Boston College, Kansas State, Western Michigan and Vanderbilt. He lists Michigan State as his favorite, and he attended Saturday's Notre Dame-Michigan State game.
Porter (6-2, 225) has scholarship offers from Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Ball State, Bowling Green, Akron and Northern Illinois. He has received interest from Michigan State, Ohio State and Wisconsin.
Brown (6-foot, 220) has scholarship offers from Northern Illinois, Akron and Ball State. Brown didn't play against Hubbard because he is still recovering from a neck stinger he suffered in Week 1 against Mount Carmel. He said he could have played Friday but is trying to get completely healthy.
Rice (5-10, 180) has scholarship offers from Akron, Northern Illinois and Ball State. He also has received interest from Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin.
Richmond (6-3, 185) has received interest from Ohio State, Western Michigan, Iowa, Iowa State, Northwestern, Purdue and Miami (Ohio).
