'05 KY OL Cory Zirbel (Michigan signee)

Update on his visit to camp per insiders.

"It was the first time I've ever been there," he said. "I liked what I saw. I liked the facilities. I liked working with (offensive coordinator/line coach Jim) Bollman. He did a great job. He is a good coach. I felt comfortable around him. That is important for me in terms of this decision."

"I liked it a lot there and it was a good experience overall. I also got to talk to Coach Tressel for a couple of minutes when we were out on the field."

Kentucky out: One of the state's top linemen, Murray's Cory Zirbel, has apparently eliminated Kentucky. He's narrowed his choices to Michigan and Miami and will make official visits to both this fall before making his collegiate decision by the end of October.

Zirbel attended numerous camps this summer, including one at Kentucky, but indicated early that the Cats were probably not going to be among his final schools. His family moved to Murray from Wisconsin and he has no other family ties to the Bluegrass.

That's why Michigan, the first school where he took an unofficial visit, has been No. 1 on his list for months and remains so now with Miami No. 2.

Zirbel is ranked among the nation's top 100 recruits by several high school recruiting analysts.

Proof that silent verbals exist

Taken from Murray Ledger.. Sept 7.. writen by Michael Dann, reporter

“A lot of people don’t know that Michigan is by far my No. 1 choice. People have heard that I like Michigan and that they are my No. 1, but not that many people know they are that far ahead,” Zirbel said. “It’s neat to just play it out. I definitely want to take all my official visits. It’s good to just sit back and enjoy it all.”

Zirbel claims that the only way he’ll sign early is if he’s forced to because of scholarships. “If something happens and I have to commit early, then I’ll be ready to do that, too,” he said. “Michigan is going to take three linemen from my class. One of them has already committed. If the other commits, then I’ll have to go ahead and do the same. If not, then I’m going to wait.”
