'05 OK G/C Craig Roark (Nebraska signee)

Yeah, in a Rivals update just today a QB from Illinois mentioned he received a nice hand written letter from Coach Tressel and had heard from Joe Daniels. We are in on kids all over the country and the coaches have to prioritize who we think we have the best shot with. With Boone and Cordle in the fold and other Ohio kids looking pretty good they probably aren't going to invest as much time and effort as Nebraska in landing Roark. I just think you have to choose your battles wisely from a resource standpoint.

Insiders is reporting that Roark was extended an offer to play in the AA game in Jan '05. It is interesting that he gets one of the first offers to attend and just happens to be favoring NE and Lemming's buddy Callahan.

I know it is just a coincidence :tongue2:

According to the latest Insiders update it looks like we are going to get a visit out of Roark. Bollman will be in to see him later this week.

Whilst I was reviewing the film on Jim Cordle and Joe Akers, I decided to check out another OL in whom OSU is interested - Craig Roark. Although his tape is not as impressive as Cordle's, it is largely because Roark isn't asked to do much other than straight-ahead run blocking (which is one reason why it is always difficult to evaluate high school OL; another is the great size disparity which often occurs between blocker and blockee). However, Roark does his job well, and he possesses tremendous leg drive and a relentless attitude. Also, he appears to be very fast and athletic, and seems to play smaller than his 280 pounds (this is a good thing - it means that he moves well). To top it off, Roark is a great student, with a 3.8 GPA and an ACT score of 25. He deservedly has an offer from Ohio State, and would make a great Buckeye. Now if we could only convince him to leave the state of Oklahoma....

Nice analysis, LJB. Roark seems to be getting pretty frustrated with the lack of an offer from Oklahoma and Oklahoma St. Not sure whether he's bluffing or not but leaving the state could be a possibility from reading his updates.

Not surpisingly, Roark made the Rivals (OUFans.com) list of Top 10 prospects in the state of Oklahoma, coming in at number four. Recruiting guru Jeremy Crabtree participated in the rankings, so the list is probably fairly reliable.

Oklahoma's Top 10

Ben Barresi, another OL who (along with his twin brother, Joe) is also looking at Ohio State, made the list at number 10.

It's probably also not surprising that according to the latest Rivals update today Roark has named Nebraska as his clear leader and he may commit to the Huskers soon.
