Biography:
The speedster from Columbia High will be one of the southeast’s most highly rated RBs in 2004. Davis carried the ball for 2,347 yds and 25 TDs last season as a JR.

"I have great field vision. I also have great power and speed. I'm like an Eddie George runner. I still want to improve my speed and quickness. I want to work on reading defenses better."

Coach's Comments: "Mike is a power back, but he has breakaway speed," says Columbia High head coach Kemper Amick. "His best asset, however is his balance with explosiveness."

More Offers For Davis
By Phil Kornblut
Columbia High RB Mike Davis (5-11 208) has added new offers from NC State and SC State to his official list according to Capitals coach Kemper Amick. Davis also has offers from Clemson, Maryland, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Kentucky, Michigan, Auburn, Alabama, Oklahoma State and Florida. Ohio State is also showing strong interest according to Amick. Davis also is hearing from Virginia Tech, Penn State and Georgia. He does not have a favorite.

That is a pretty impressive offer list. Maybe he wants to wear the same uniform as Eddie George too!!

I'd still like to see us land a back with size as some point. Haw isn't little by any means but I want a bruiser in this class. If Brown is 5'10" 210 in high school I could easily see him get up to about 220 or 225.

Davis is a stud, but take those stats with a grain of salt. Columbia is a AA level school which would be comparable to Div IV-V in Ohio. However, those small divisions in South Carolina have produced a good number of D-1 players and NFL players in the past couple decades including John Abraham and Levon Kirkland...both from the same small, rural town
