From BSB...Luke is looking at Purdue, Notre Dame, Michigan, Louisville, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Iowa. Purdue, Notre Dame, Louisville, and Oklahoma have offered. He visited OSU for a spring practice a few weeks ago.

Luke's top three are Notre Dame, Michigan and Purdue (offer) at this point, also Louisville and Oklahoma have offered.

Schmidt says distance is a factor and wants to play close to home.

Luke Schmidt, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound, running back, from Jasper, Indiana, is becoming one of the most sought after prospects in the Midwest. Schmidt already has offers from the likes of Notre Dame and Oklahoma. Luke is a terrific athlete that could play several positions on either side of the football. Here are some junior clips of Schmidt in action. You’ll be able to see why Schmidt is drawing comparisons to Mike Alstott.

Is there always this many top caliber players in Indiana? Seems like i see a new one every day on the board.

Indiana turns out a fair amount solid players, but we usually don't pay them much attention because of the amount that Ohio cranks out. Indiana just seems to have a glut (for them) of major talent this year.

Scout.com has already put out one video feature of Schmidt and here’s another installment of the big, bruising tailback from the Hoosier State.

By AMP...a video interview in which Luke indicates that he will announce his decision this Friday at 2:30 EST between Louisville, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Purdue.

I would say ND is the favorite here...Weis is doing a heck of a job so far this year.

It's a shame OSU is not in this race. I just flipped through my uncle's latest Buckeye Sports Bulletin tonight, and was 1) VERY impressed with his stats/size, 2) thinking this could be our next stud FB, and 3) mis-led to believe we actually had a shot!! Good luck wherever you end up Luke, but expect the S&G to ruin a few dreams you might have. On the gridiron, that is...
