Talent level was definitely down this year. Too many quality players missing, between OSU early enrollees (Wells - best O, Homan - best D, Coleman - best DB), the big33 splitting up the talent (Small, Johnson, Gibson), and others not playing (Boren, Brown, Nelson, etc).

Rose - a beast. He has a tremendous first step, excellent strength and very good speed for his size. He overpursued at times, but gave Connor lots of trouble at tackle. Davis had one eye on Rose all game, and did a good job stepping up in the pocket. He can contribute this season, but he will take time to develop. Plays with a lot of spirit and talk.

Moeller - bulked up but is still smallish (spread defender at OSU), very disciplined, quiick to the ball, and packs a huge punch. Does not have the hips/experience to play safety, tho he was used there in the 1st half. Absolutely crushed the ball carrier at the start of the 2nd half. Another great colerain kid, a little quiet, good-natured, humble player.

Mixon - Great kid, well-spoken, good natured and a good sport. 6'1" and good size*. Very disciplined player, solid tackler, average speed... very little running game to test his skills. Was right in the pile which caused/recovered a fumble, may have made the play (I was zoomed in on another player and missed it). He was good-natured about the Ohio-Michigan jokes from others.

Ballard - strong run blocker, very athletic for his size, but he will grow into a future tackle. He held his own against Rose in pass protection. Not the best hands, but OSU does not rely on the TE in the passing game.

Smith - decent performance, but they passed all day long (not his forte). Could develop nicely with good coaching, and run-happy Colerain did not prepare him well for stopping the nation's best defensive end from Glenville. He did better than I expected in pass pro, and improved as the game progressed.

Chichester - unbelievable redzone luxury. 6'8" frame (with a 7'+ wingspan) with a huge vertical and soft hands. Between the 20's his speed, athleticism and route running was average... and was not effective going deep. I would still love to have him, coach his WR skills up... and turn him loose inside the redzone in the meantime. He will thrive at Louisville.

Jones - glenville WR headed to wisconsin... speedy wideout with excellent athleticism, he was exciting. He was running around defenders all day, on bubble screens, reverses and deep routes. This Brandon Williams' replacement will arrive in Madison this fall.

Wright - Inconsistent. Some strong kicks/punts, then some really awful ones. Booted one punt that went well over 50 some yards, and then one that went out close to the line of scrimmage.

QBs - stanzi was pretty good, tho the pass coverage was dreadful (not just burned, simply non-existant on many plays). Davis was very inconsistent yet rarely was replaced.

I know he's not OSU, but how did Trent Nwaru(#29) do? Was he one of the starters?
I'm not sure if he started, but he was on the field a lot. He had a few nice breakups, including the second one below vs daven jones.

Here's a better shot of Ballard's current physique (seen below). definitely room to add on some pounds. He could play TE here, but after impressing me in protection and struggling with some catches (in the game and practice), I'd love to see him bulk up to play tackle.
