Steve has a
475-pound squat, 265-pound bench, and a 285-pound power clean while running in the 4.6-4.7 40-yard dash range. besides football, Steve is also a standout wrestler and shot putter. He grew up a Buckeye fan and has been to a game this year where he was blown away by the gameday atmosphere. Steve is also receiving mail from Purdue, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Cincinnati and Connecticut. Coach Beckman is in charge of his recruitment.

From the measurables, you would think he could be an outstanding tight end. 4.6/4.7 forty with great height and strength. I wonder if that's what he's being recruited as.
those numbers are prototypical defensive end numbers. with his speed, height, and balance developed from wrestling, he'd be a great pass rusher, as well as underneath and flat cover end. not too many plays would make it outside of him. a defensive end needs quality speed, and he seems to possess it.

also, his ground meat for a nose shows he's a scrapper.

From OhioVarsity...Steve was invited but was unable to attend the AA combine in San Antonio. He is hearing from Ohio State, Iowa, Notre Dame, Indiana, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Bowling Green.

Wad, you think he could bulk up to play DT?

Good question...it seems like that is what the staff is thinking. Assuming he stays at 6-5, if he could get up into the 270-280 range a few years from now, I think he would make a great combo DL. Someone like Penton or Patterson who could line up either inside or outside. To get an offer from OSU this year I think he has to project as either a combo or a pure DT...otherwise, I think the staff has several pure DEs they like a little better. His main competition in-state as a potential DT would be Joey D'Andrea (6-2 240), Cameron Wade (6-3 260) and possibly Eric Thomas (6-4 250). All of them need to bulk up eventually to end up playing inside.
