There is not a well-worn path from Painesville to Lawrence, Kan., but Harvey offensive tackle Jeff Spikes has found his way.
Spikes (6-6, 285) is one of the hidden gems in this year's football recruiting class because he did not play a full season of varsity football until last fall. Surgeries on both feet prevented him from playing as a sophomore and junior.

It's nice to see a local kid get a shot at playing D-1 football. Jeff is a big kid who was pretty untested by playing less than average competition. In time, I think he could be a pretty good OL, and Kansas seems like a good fit for him. 6"7" might be his basketball height, his football height is closer to 6'4".
