07 Recruiting (CBF40's look at our prospects)

I agree with most of what you said LJB. I see OSU going for the tops at each position in the country because with the momentum they have right now, they are getting them interested. Truth is while it's fun to make an '08 list, it's very early and a lot more names will pop up on our radar, plus I think camp performances will tell the tale on many of the guys like Moore, Stoneburner(though he camped last year and impressed the staff a ton), Beachum, Zordich, and guys like that.

I am just not sure on the Mooney guys:

I think McCarthy is the one that we will get. He has an offer already, and I have heard some pretty favorable things even tho his brother is at ND.

As for Beachum and Zordich I have them down the list behind guys like Torrence, Hale, and Staples and then there will be other national guys pop up and there are other lbs in Ohio that are pretty good. If either of them get an offer I envision it being Zordich as a fb.

Also I think the second best player on film was Taylor Hill, but he is a tweener and might be hard to find a spot for him in a class as small as next years will probably be.

Agree with 40 100%...the Mooney guys are great looking players, but with limited schollies, McCarthy may be the only legit target. Staples is the real deal...

Kenny Tate might be one of the best players in the nation next year...

I failed to mention I haven't seen any film on Staples yet so I couldn't rate him higher than the Mooney guys.

1. RB - Danny "Boom" Herron
2. RB/WR - Brandon Saine
4. DB - Devon Torrence
5. WR - Dane Sazenbacher
6. WR/S - Eugene Clifford
7. DB - Donnie Evege
8. S - Nate Oliver
9. OL - Evan Blankenship
10. OL - Anthony Davis
11. DE - Ben Martin
12. DE - Solomon Thomas
13. DE - Tez Wilson
14. DT - Joe Barksdale
15. DT - Devon Still
16. DT - Josh Brent
17. LB - Brian Rolle
18. S - Major Wright
19. WR - Deonte Thompson

#13 and #19 are the biggest longshots of the group if you ask me... and I think we get both.

EDIT: I think its either Illinois or OSU for Tez... and Brent dropping Illinois has to help OSU.

I like that class, and I don't see any reason why it can't happen.

I to agree that those two are could be the toughest to pull, but the way the big mo is going on this train there is no stopping it.

BTW out of those final players you addede there are 5 5-stars. :yow1:

18/19 - Either two of Allen, Scott, Johnson, Warren, Berry, Thompson, Wilson, Gronkowski or possibly even Yandell...or one of that list plus one of Jeremiah or Hines...or none from that list and both Jeremiah and Hines.

We could also potentially stop at 18 and bank the last one for next year, but that is only if we whiff on the entire group, which I don't see happening.

Im still rooting for Jeremiah to get an offer... but as they say, the silence is defeaning.

No one does updates on him and there is no talk of him anywhere.

Rolle is really underrated. I watched some film this morning and he would be a great linebacker here. Ive heard that hes a "bigger Buster Davis,"
and I think that is spot on.

I believe he'd be the missing "3" on Wadc's list.

Davis, Rolle, Wright and the DL 5 (Brent, Barksdale, Still, Martin, Thomas) look like real possibilities.

I'd love to get Martez Wilson in and put him at WR or LB. He has the freaky athletic ability you don't see very often and we know there's no one better than our staff at maximizing skills.

Yup.

Is there a Curtis Terry under the radar style guy this year?

Depends on what you mean...if you are talking about a late offer going out to an in-state kid who is not well known, then we probably don't know who he is if he is "under the radar". If you are talking about about a guy who is not rated very highly who could end up being a player at OSU, my vote would be for Sanzenbacher. I think he is the kind of kid who will have an impact sooner rather than later at OSU. But I guess that would be more of an "Anthony Gonzales or Brian Robiskie under the radar style guy".
