Height: 6'2"
Weight: 190 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.4 seconds
GPA: 2.9

It's hard to say where I see him on the next level because he's great at so many positions. He's played running back, receiver, and even defensive back when he was younger. Sam has developed himself into quite a player and also a great leader. -Dobie coach Tommy Kaiser

Sam has transferred from Pasadena Douby to Pearland for his Senior year. Loves the way we use Troy and the way Texas A&M uses McNeal. Says he is a passer first, but can make plays with his feet if need be. Ohio State sends him the most mail.

Very interesting, im looking forward to seeing how this plays out. My guess would be that we are looking at him as an athlete, seeing as how there are alot of quarterbacks vying for that one OSU QB offer this year.

Well, we will have Schoenhoft and Boeckman as pro-style and then Henton as a dual-threat QB when/if Proctor were to come in. What is the consensus as to what style QB we are going after this year?

I am wondering the same thing. It appears we may be leaning either way imo and will take whoever we think is the best QB. Clay Belton is a pure pocket passer, Chris Smith is in between, and Proctor is more of an athlete QB. I say we won't know untill after camp after the staff has evaluated all of our prospects. If Paulus shows up it may get interesting as well. I doubt we take 2 QB's but it's possible I suppose?

2 Qb's seems very doubtful, imo. We have 17 avilable, but with early departures (GInn, some others probably), I expect 19-20 again with the majority going to DT, WR and OL.. maybe a few true CB's.

Anyways, Proctor's stats were not all that impressive, but he is an athlete and I do not know Troy stats from HS (or if he even played QB his whole career... even though he did attend the Elite11 camp). He mostly speaks of playing QB in college in the most recent Rivals article on him (which I linked in my initial post). He is a VERY intriguing prospect and the fact that our staff is sending a lot of mail, and how highly he speaks of Troy and our offensive schemes, I have to assume the staff is thinking QB here. If the staff likes him... so do I!!

I'm not really sure whether the staff will designate whether they are going after a "dual threat" guy, or perhaps a pocket passer. I generally tend to think they offer whoever is the best no matter what type they are.

Alot of people seem to think we're going to go after an in-state guy for quarterback like last year. I'm not sure if that'll be the case. It'll depend on how much they like belton, smith and evans. Smith didn't sound too high on us in the last update.

I would be highly surprised if we didn't see how our main target was after camp season. I really think Tressel and staff do most of their evaluation during summer camp. He might have been a camper last season for all we know anyway.

I am almost positive that is where they do their heavy QB grading. Usually whoever comes to camp and shines wins a scholarships offer.

It is...the staff does an excellent job of evaluating the talent in small amount of time to see a kid live, and combining that with scouting reports, films, and coaches watching high school games to determine who gets an offer. I like Proctor, Nowels and Siller as the top QB prospects with interest in OSU and a legit shot at an offer. Paulus, Belton, Smith, Skylar Jones, Chazz Anderson, etc. will probably be in that second tier.
