That was a quick thread:

Going to Xavier

Also said he is leaving the green pastures of Toledo for Oak Hill.

Muskies land one recruit Sunday
Miles commits for class of '07

By Dustin Dow

<!-- ARTICLE SIDEBAR --><!--ARTICLE BODY TEXT-->What began as a big weekend for Xavier's recruitment of 2006 prospects, ended with a commitment from a prospect in the class of 2007.

Nate Miles, a 6-foot-6 sophomore from Toledo, orally committed Sunday during an unofficial visit to XU.

"They were real up front with me," said Miles, who indicated that Xavier being the first school to offer him a scholarship played an important role in his decision. "Some other schools said they might be there in a year or two, but Xavier was there at the beginning."

Miles, who played last season at Toledo Libbey High School and averaged 19 points and five rebounds, said he is transferring to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va.

"I just need to get away and work on my academics and work on my body (getting stronger)," Miles said.

He is ranked No. 80 nationwide in the class of 2007 by Hoopscooponline.com.

"That's fantastic for Xavier," said recruiting analyst John Stovall of Prep Spotlight. "He's a high-major player. He's probably the fifth-best sophomore in the state and anywhere from 50 to 75 in the country."

Miles is Xavier's first commitment in the class of 2007 or 2006.

Two 2006 recruits were on campus for official visits during the weekend. Neither Stefan Welsh nor Duke Crews committed during their visits. Welsh, however, said Xavier "is going to be hard to beat."

Both Crews and Welsh spent considerable time with Xavier's current players.

"A lot of those guys are younger players so if I go there, they'd still be there when I got there," said Crews. "So that's cool. I can say I do like the school, but you can't really speed up the process because it's a life-changing decision.

"But I'm going to continue to be in contact with the coaching staff, and I'll be in touch with a whole lot of the players."

Ohio Standout Soph Headed To A-10
By Dave Telep National Recruiting Director
Date: Apr 18, 2005

Nate Miles, one of the top sophomores in the state and Scout.com’s No. 50 prospect in 2007, is off the board. After a weekend unofficial visit, the Toledo (Ohio) Libbey standout made his choice.

When you can shoot the basketball with the effectiveness that Nate Miles can and you’re 6-foot-6 ½, people take notice. In Miles’ case, one team took notice early and wasn’t persistent enough to convince him to make a commitment.

Xavier University will be the home of Toledo (Ohio) Libbey standout in the fall of 2007. On Sunday, while on an unofficial campus visit with his mother, Miles committed to Coach Sean Miller. It was not the first time he took a visit to Xavier as the Musketeers have recruited Miles as a priority since Sean Miller took over the reigns as head coach.

“They believe in me,” Miles said of the Xavier staff. “I think they can get me to the next level and get me to the NBA.”

So far, the All-Ohio standout is off to a good start. As a sophomore, he averaged 19.5 points a game to go with 5 rebounds. Miles is talented from the perimeter and brings a scoring pop to any lineup.

“I’ll do whatever I need to do,” Miles said of his role once he arrives on campus. The commitment is a big time one for Xavier as Scout.com has Miles listed as the No. 50 prospect in what appears to be a deep class of 2007. He’s joined in the Top 50 by fellow Ohioans O.J. Mayo, Bill Walker, Keenan Ellis and Dallas Lauderdale.

This is a good pick-up for Xavier......as far as OSU.....I don't think Matta and company were recruiting him real hard, they have their sights set on bigger targets.

It's possible, but he has a LONG way to go academically. He has also had some problems off the court. Let's hope Cornerstone Christian can help him turn it around. He is talented no doubt.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

You are right when you say he has some work to do. Originally, decided to leave Toledo and attend Oak Hill, but that didn't work out and came back to Toledo and had some issues. Lets hope he gets on the right track.
