'09 IL OL Chris Watt (Notre Dame Signee)

Have there been some major hints for Watt lately or are you guys going on his visit schedule and when he wants to announce as your good feelings?

Chris has seemed to be very quiet thru his recruitment. I am very intrigued to see where Scout re-ranks him tonite. He was right on the cusp of being a 5star. That is always impressive for an OG prospect.

Well, according to scout he is still on the cusp of being a "5-star" recruit. I personally don't care much for rankings of players......I just know that Chris would be a huge get for us if we land him!

The GBW & ND boards lit up with Watt-OSU talk minutes after BSB's premium board had a Watt nugget thread on Tuesday. Even the ever demonstrative ILL fansiders are backpedaling fast, which of course leads to placing Schofield well above Watt now (who is very good pickup for UM, just pretty transparent switch from them).

I am happy to have Schofield as a part of our class, but I frequent both Michigan sites and never remember a meltdown coming from a Watt nugget. I was very busy and had to play golf that night so I might have missed something but I personally don't remember those on the premium boards. Watt is a man though. He is going to be a solid OLineman for whoever gets him.

I remember seeing a thread on it on the free board from McLovin. There was more uproar/meltdown on the ILL/ND boards, from what I heard. I'm sure our resident Herbstreit fan was nowhere near said threads

Anyway, it seemed to spread like wildfire soon after it hit the OSU premium board, so that's the source of this talk... to answer your question. Stealer monkeys are all over, even from within these days.

Gotcha. I don't frequent our free boards that much. ND fans are getting pissed at the OL's they aren't landing. I am a little pissed they got Trevor Robinson last year. That kid is going to be good.

BTW, are there any dates finalized about when Watt was planning to visit certain schools?

My bad....on the above post.....I just checked the updated "star" ratings, and Chris is now a 5-star rated recruit on Scout and OG #2 in the country.

I'm hearing that if Watt isn't a Buckeye within short order after his visit to Columbus, the Irish are looking good.

That said though, not many Irish fans are confident in that scenario unfolding. Many are thinking he goes to Columbus and commits to the Sweatervest (not meant as an insult, just what we're used to calling him :)).

Irish fans would be miffed about missing out on Watt, but only a little since we landed a guard already along with two guys there last year, and tackle is our #1 recruiting weakness over the last two classes (and if you could watch one of our games last year without bowling over laughing, you'd understand where we're coming from).

He's always maintained he'll be committing in July, so I wouldn't get my ND hopes up when he doesn't commit this weekend.

I don't think there is any doubt that it's a two school battle in this one.

No worries, we have our nicknames for your coach as well. :)

Strangely I think that's similar to how the fans around here are starting to feel.

Watt is a stud but if he decides on the Irish I believe the thought of Prior as a "plan B" is becoming a pretty comfortable one.

Still, whichever school Chris decides on is going to be thrilled to have him.

Agreed if we do miss out on Watt , Prior would be an outstanding 2nd choice .

Ha, not according to the Michigan (scout) board. Watt visited them a couple of weeks ago and right afterward their mod (not Beaver) posted that it was a two team battle between Michigan and OSU.

I didn't have the nerve to tell them otherwise so I just let them wallow in their own myopic juices.

Besides, it's far more fun to watch them wail in bumfuzzlement then throw out accusations about how OSU or ND somehow managed to get a kid from "The Harvard of the Midwest".
