Ronnie Wingo RB 6'2 190 4.40 St. Louis University Missouri

Wingo really exploded onto the scene as a sophomore, carrying the ball 262 times for 1419 yards (5.4 ypc) and 11 TDs through his team's first ten games. He is a tall, long-striding runner who has the speed to get to the corner and go the distance. Wingo finished fourth in the Missouri Class 4 100-meter dash (10.84 seconds) and seventh in the 200 (22.11) as a freshman. Could wind up converting to WR in high school if he gets any taller. One of the top young prospects in the midlands.

By Crabtree...breakdown of the game between Christian Brothers College High and St. Louis University High...and more importantly Rayon Simmons vs. Ronnie Wingo. Wingo has offers from Missouri and Illinois.

BuckeyeGrove.com - From the Road: Names to watch

Speaking of stepping up, that's exactly what Wingo did on the game's first play.

The 6-foot-2, 206-pound running back took the first play from scrimmage 80-yards for a touchdown. He bolted through the line on the left hand side on a simple dive play and before the linebackers or safeties could even get near him he was gone untouched for the score.

There's no question that Wingo is one of the fastest players in St. Louis and that touchdown run was a perfect example. When he was a freshman he won the AAU Junior Olympics national championship in the 200 meters, and he's been clocked as fast as 10.78 seconds in the 100 meters.

"I know Ron Zook at Illinois was impressed with him when he was up there, and they offered him on the spot. He's about as big of a can't miss guy that we've had around here in a long time."

he has really good speed but he doesnt look that quick, i think the saine comparison it a little much, he just doesnt turn the corner like saine does, i was much more impressed with Bud Golden and Kevin Ringer. Mark Mays looks much more like saine running style and speed wise than Ronnie Wingo IMO.

I REEEEEALLY want him to start mentioning us. I have seen the articles and read them, but do you MODs know of the mutual interest between Ronnie and Ohio State?

I agree, but I think this one is a Illinois/Mizzou battle at the moment...Now some different offers may change that...

Talks about his recruiting process lately. Ohio State and Iowa have been in recently. He wasn't aware OSU had enough interest to visit his school. Denies any leaders, wants to have a top 5 by summer. Also discusses Missouri's spring game.
