'09 OH QB Austin Boucher (Miami-OH Signee)

Pretty clear Boucher was waiting for the OSU offer before committing to Miami (and did so the day our Insiders started reporting Boyd to OSU).

Can't imagine why he would lose interest just because Boyd misled JT.

Well, if he commits to OSU, he can have his HS number 9 now that Hartline is gone.

I feel for the young man...this would be tough. Play with your brother and have a great chance at being a starting QB. Or play for The Ohio State University and get the chance to run out of that tunnel in front of 100+ thousand screaming fans...

Best of luck to him whatever he decides.

OSU has offered and wants him to make a visit...talks about the whirlwind behind the offer today...says he is still committed to Miami but will talk things over with his family before talking to JT again.

if Boucher decides to pass on the offer, any chance we approach another sleeper prospect at QB??

Maybe a guy like Payne??

I don't think so IMO, don't forget that we have Orhian Johnson a very very handy and mobile QB, currently being groomed to play safety for us.

ya, I actually just revived OJ's thread. I agree with that thinking, but it doesn't seem like the staff wants to move him.

Hopefully Boucher makes it a moot point...

Boucher said he believed that Boyd had committed to Ohio State several days ago, so he was surprised when OSU assistant quarterbacks coach Nick Siciliano called with the offer tonight.
"I was like, 'What? No way,'" Boucher said.
Boucher then spoke with Jim Tressel as well. He said he's not put off by being a second choice for the Buckeyes, but the idea of playing with his brother at Miami is a draw as well.

pretty unreal.

Tajh and co. may have changed this kids future forever. He publicly commits to Miami once he's told Tajh will be a Buck. The coaching staff was obviosuly as straight up with Boucher as possible, and did the right thing by notifying him they'd gotten a verbal from Tajh. Unfortunately the verbal falls through after Boucher gives Miami his verbal, and now Boucher will be left to make the hard call of notifying Miami's coaching staff should he decide to switch his verbal.

Some will say Boucher did it once already, so whats the big deal, but I think the circumstances are much different in this scenario. Obviously, Boucher's comments verify how misled the staff was. I was actually a bit skeptical until I read that. I just can't believe anyone would be that dishonest....I still don't see what the benefit was from Tajh's POV....to crank up interest for a 2 minute press conference??
