I work with Patricks mom here in Willoughby. Extremely nice family who's done a great job raising their son. I see/talk with Patrick quite often too and am really looking forward to watching him play this year. With his frame, he can definately add another 15-20 pounds by the time he steps on whichever campus he decides on. He's worked hard in the weight room the last couple years to bulk up to 210. He's also a standout baseball player who last time I checked was leading the area in batting average(an area that includes Chris Fields of Harvey).

From BG....Talks about his experience at the Ohio State camp yesterday. Says Ohio State has not offered, however if they did, they would be his #1. Akron & Ohio have offered. Hearing from Iowa, Michigan State & Michigan.

He makes a funny reference to Michigan in the article as well. You guys will have to check it out

What is the probability of a grayshirt offer?

I have pondered this thought, but that would work out if we were not planning on taking a big time QB next year, but we are...If the staff takes a look near the end of the season and thinks that Nicely has more potential than the QB's we are going to take a look at then yeah it would be a great idea...

But Gardner, if he can get here and get a solid 2 years in on his mechanics behind Pryor and then Bauserman we could very well see a big time QB in him...Huge arm strength and great ahtletic ability...Just doesn't have good feetwork or good mechanics...

I have mentioned the Grayshirt possibility to his mother and tried my best to inform her of that option but that was a little while back. I'd bet quite a bit he'll bring in alot more offers between now and February though.

I knew that someone would bring this up, so I almost made a post about it yesterday.

Anyway, Patrick would be the perfect candidate for a greyshirt offer - huge Buckeye fan, somewhat of a late bloomer but with lots of potential, only MAC-level offers at the present, plays a position where kids aren't expected to see the field right away, is part of a recruiting class in which the Buckeyes probably won't be offering a QB, and it would give him some "separation" from the projected 2009-2010-2011 starting QB.

That being said, it is always difficult to convince a kid to greyshirt, and if Patrick continues to impress at camps and during his senior season, he will probably start to pick up some Big Ten or Big East offers, thus making it less likely for him to consider a greyshirt (see Steve Gardiner from last year's class, who turned down an OSU greyshirt for an offer from MSU).

The News-Herald - Another Moran joins hoops coaching ranks

South senior quarterback Patrick Nicely keeps rolling on the football camp circuit.
After strong performances at camps at Penn State and Cleveland Browns Stadium for elite high school players, Nicely was named the top overall offensive performer at Ohio State's Senior Day Advance Camp last Sunday.
Nicely said there were more than 400 players at the camp, and close to 45 quarterbacks that he was competing against.
"It was fun to throw the ball around and gauge where I am against some of the top players in Ohio," Nicely said. "I think I did really well, and I was happy with my passing and my footwork."
Obviously, Nicely's performance made a couple of college recruiters happy as well. Nicely received two more official offers while at OSU on Sunday. Akron and Ohio University have joined MAC member Bowling Green in offering Nicely a scholarship.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Nicely said he was told he needs to work on pocket presence and his accuracy, but that he has the arm strength and the intelligence to play in the Big Ten. He is now officially on Ohio State's radar as well.
"I'm always looking to get better, but I pride myself on working really hard," Nicely said.
