'09 PA ATH E.J. Banks (Notre Dame Verbal)

Yeah I was looking for that stuff...But I guess I just missed it some, and looking at pictures of him, he just seems small to me, which I think hurt my perception of him...
I guess the PSU staff missed it too because it doesn't appear they've shown any interest in Banks at all. That seems really odd considering all the attention he's gotten from other schools, so the home state team is conspicuous by their absence.

No offense, but that's a bit of a trend with too many PA kids, imo.

Yeah, no offense, but the Penn State coaches haven't exactly shown themselves to be excellent judges of talent.

I wrote this on another board, but I like Banks a lot specifically because he can't be pegged into one position. He's probably the quintessential "speed" recruit in Ohio State's system. Could project at safety or corner, could be a receiver, could probably even play some running back in the right system.

Also, given the family tie to Ohio State (Joey Galloway's cousin), PSU coaches may consider EJ Bank an uphill battle to start with. It is like Mike Zordich was an uphill battle for Ohio State even though he lives in Youngstown. So is really PSU the in-state school? I am not sure. And the way recruiting is going in the past couple of years, Ohio State may well be the home team in western PA.

Judging by posts earlier in this thread, EJ and Joey do have at least some interaction, however, I wouldn't compare father/son legacy ties to that of cousins. I have second cousins who I've never met before.

Youngest in a group of 108 first cousins,(both family sides), so the total number of children they all produced(second cousins) has to be pushing 500 or more...which maybe I've met 15. So I understand. But in this case and on this level, I have to be thinking Joey and EJ know each other fairly well...gotta like our chances.

The immediate family influence is pretty high on OSU however.

Just watched EJ's film at Rivals and I'm extremely impressed. I really like EJ as an athlete. His change of direction is superb and he is pretty quick. He has good speed and makes plays. His change of direction makes me think he would be a good safety, or good with the ball in his hands. I would love to see EJ in this class.

I agree. I think there's a reason guys like Barnett, EJ, Wood and Hunter were offered before others. They got a better blend of size, speed, athleticism and versatility. It would be huge to get Banks.

So would I and I think we will in the end...eventually. Banks is a tremendous athlete and would be a great Buckeye! It's McGee I'm getting worried about, now.
