Taos, the problem is Abrams stated at Comic-Con that this will be an original, he is trying to make "America's Godzilla". I've bounced about from IMDB to -- (the movie's official site) and Slusho! ? You Can?t Drink Just Six. (the SLusho brand featured in Abram's old show "Alias" is said to be integral to the story). But some people out there have been going absolutely nuts with their research.

Thats one of the "theories" floating around online. Abrams has stated this is an original monster. However a lot of it does seem to be lovecraft-ian in nature. Another of the theories is that he is doing some sort of underground godzilla movie but thats unlikely. Check out the IMDB boards for links to TONS of theories. Kind of fun if youre bored.
