is that mike redd over j jackson? no way buddy. no way. nope. redd was good but not jj good.

redd is not lewis. different style players... and id take mike redd everyday of the week.

I was at OSU the same time as JJ and he made OSU one of the top teams but, Redd's NBA life blows away JJ'S and I hate to say that but, JJ turned out to be a team traveler after a couple good years. Redd keeps getting better, better,,,,,,, at the same team.

If JJ ever had Redds outside shooting wIth his over all game. He would still be playing as a top 20 player in the NBA TODAY.

I like Lewis, but he and Redd are completely different players. Redd plays under control. The moves that Redd pulls off are more impressive and athletic than the ability to jump. Twisting and weaving through the lane, pulling up and being able to square and get a shot off is something that takes more athletic ability than simply jumping out of the gym. I seem to remember Redd playing a little defense too. That'll take some of the attacking the rim and throwing down dunks right out of you.

I agree about them being different players, I was just merely saying that I think that Lewis is more athletic.

Back when Redd was here I seem to remember him taking some ill advised shots. It was really Scoonie that led that team with his control that he played with. Redd is 10x's better now than he was in college.

I do agree that they use their athletic ability in different ways, but neither one has problems getting shots off the way they play, Redd can do more off the dribble and Lewis can do more flying thru the air and dunking the ball.

I disagree with those who are saying Twigs played a great game....he put himself in foul trouble with awful decesions, such as hacking the crap out of Lawson instead of just standing straight up while Lawson was trapped under the hoop...also not sure about the 3 he jacked up or the fast break layup he decided to give up in an attempt for an assist. I thought he gave it his all, and it sucks he had to play out of position, but he needs to play smarter basketball, especially in a situation like last night where we're so low on bodies

Can't knock a guy for a couple bad plays. Things like that are bound to happen when playing in a game that is up and down and the temp is crazy. I agree that the three he jacked up might of been a questionable shot to us as fans, but I am sure that Matta would probably encourage him to shoot that shot if he is open.

He manned up Hansbrough to the best of his ability and think he did the best job on him out of any of our big guys. He also had some nice rebounds.

Overall what you see is what you get with Twig, he is going to play hard and will struggle when he is playing out of position at the 5, but he will be a solid 4/5 backup when coming off the bench.

Redd is finally turning into one of the best in the NBA now. Once he added driving to the basket he took his game to another level. He was always known as a great shooter but, adding that to his game is making him tough as heck to guard.

His game at OSU was attacking the basket, not shooting. His outside shot was never his strong point at OSU. He became a great shooter after a year or two in the NBA.

Redd over Jackson in a second and

Based on NBA career, I'll buy that. Based on college performance, not in a million years.

Agree on both points... JJ was amazing in college. Ohio State hasn't had anyone like him since though a freshman this year or in the years to come may have something to say about that.

Lewis had a great game against UNC. Redd was consistently good against good teams. JJ took over ballgames.

Here is something to chew on...

Who is tOSU's greatest center of all time? Very well could be Oden...
Who is tOSU's greatest PG of all time? Very well could be Conley...
Who is tOSU's greatest Wing of all time? Very well could be Cook...

I understand these guys have only played 7 games, but they have as much talent or more than anyone that we have seen here.

Conley will stay about 2-3 years and should easily go down as the best pg ever. His skills are uncanny and exactally what you want in a pg.

Oden is self explanatory. I am still young, but can't think of the great centers we have had here, besides Ken Johnson and even if Oden only plays half a year he is going to be the best to ever play here.

Then you have Cook. You may ask how can the best wing come off the bench. Well because at this point he is still adjusting to the college game on the defensive end of the court. How many freshmen do you see come off the bench and average 15 pts/game in his first 7 games. I think that Cook could be 1 and done, but if he stays 2 years we are going to see him reach into more of his potential and become the best wing to ever go through here. He might be the farthest reach of the 3 b/c of guys like Redd, Jackson, and Havlicek and what they did when they were here, but either way he has the potential to go down as the best ever to play the wing here.

The amazing thing is that 3 of the greatest ever to play here, came in one class.

I am not just annointing them the best ever as they have things to do to get to that level, but they have the potential to get there...

lets get a few things straight
redd two time honorable mention aa, b10 roy
jj player of the year, two time all american

dont forget guys like lucas, three time b10 poy
or clemons two time player of the year

these kids are freshman, let them have their careers and history will sort it all out (to some extent)

mike redd was not a shooter in college, he really struggled with the 3ball in college.

on twig you pick out three possesions, every player sis gonna get beat a few times, take a bad foul or two. it happens. hes not a worldbeater im not gonna even be able to convince myself that, but that was his best game of the year no doubt.

I said just something to chew on...Just merely saying that we havent seen very many players like the ones we have and they all came at once.

As for Twig I agree...

never was a great shooter. very average at best and good within 18 and great with driving
he was the man in college. I was posting about NBA. I was at every home game when JJ was playing and at the NCAA games. Treg Lee smoked to much to ever be the player he could have been.

First time I've gotten to see the Bucks play this year and I must say I was very impressed. Going in, I thought UNC's inside game would destroy us. But for our guys to to be in this game and to lead the whole first half without Oden and at UNC...wow. They're going to be special. I mean these freshman were playing their first road game and that is a rough place to be initiated to the road. Say all you want about them having experience through AAU ball---that is nothing compared to the real deal. These guys can score at will. I loved last years team but this team is so explosive. The young guys made a few bad decisions but as they gel it's going to be a fun ride. I cannot wait to see what we look like when Oden takes the court!
