Torwudzo considers three offers

Monday, March 30, 2009

Posted by Bill Kurelic

Wide receiver Charles Torwudzo (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) is one of the top prospects from the Hoosier State and despite missing the end of his junior football season due to injury, Torwudzo has two Big Ten scholarship offers on the table.

He has offers from Indiana and Purdue, as well as an offer from Ball State.

"Basically I'm looking at all three," Torwudzo said. "I don't have a favorite or a top three. I like those three that have offered, but I'm really wide open."

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Torwudzo broke his left ankle during the seventh game of his junior season. He had surgery in October, missed the rest of the football season and most of his junior basketball season.

Torwudzo is also running track for Brownsburg and said he is 100 percent healthy again. Before the injury, he had 25 receptions for 450 yards and three touchdowns.

In addition to Purdue, Indiana and Ball State, Torwudzo also mentioned Michigan State, Cincinnati and Ohio State. He has visited Indiana, Purdue and Cincinnati and might attend a spring practice session at Michigan State and possibly Ohio State's spring game.

"Right now I'm just thinking about where I want to spend the next four or five years," Torwudzo said.

Wilkins' newest offers shuffle his top five - ESPN

Wide receiver Charles Torwudzo (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) has seen his scholarship offer list double in the past month and a half. At the end of March, Torwudzo had offers from Indiana, Purdue and Ball State. He has since added Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and Illinois State.

"I'm looking at all of them," Torwudzo said. "I'm keeping my options open."

However, unless something changes, it appears Torwudzo's decision will come down to a battle between the two in-state Big Ten schools.

"The two at the top of my list are IU and Purdue," Torwudzo said. "Right now, Purdue is looking best overall. I like their coaches' recruiting style. They have been really consistent the whole recruiting process."

The 6-5, 195-pounder caught 25 passes for 450 yards and three touchdowns during his junior season. However, Torwudzo played in just seven games after breaking his left ankle late in the season and undergoing surgery.

Torwudzo is 100 percent healthy once again and plans to attend some football camps in the summer. He would also like to select a college during the summer.

"We'll see," Torwudzo said. "I'd say I'll decide before the season starts. I would like to do it sometime this summer."

Nice video, good frame, decent size. I don't know if he's 6'5" though, but a definate good prospect. Surprising with his size not to see any downfield throws. Good burst; but that may have been relative due to the competition looking bad (read: terrible). I'd like to see him in camp and get some more measurables for sure. I like how we are going after all of our neighboring states' talent!
