From the Cincinnati site. Cincinnati has offered. He is interested in the Bearcats because it's close to home.

By Dave Berk for Kentucky Sports Report...has family in Kentucky and is very interested in the Wildcats.

Huber Heights Wayne 20, Lakota West 17 | Cincinnati Enquirer | Cincinnati.Com

West took a 17-14 lead on a 2-yard TD pass from junior quarterback John Peters to junior tight end Alex Smith with 5:46 left, but Wayne kicked two field goals in the final 2:22.

Alex is a really good ball player. He looked to be 6'4 or 6'5 last night...I thought they said 6'5, but either way, Alex has a great frame and runs really well. He made some nice plays last night against a good Wayne defense. Definetly a player to keep an eye on.

Lakota West's roster lists him at 6-5 215 and Nike's SPARQ testing measured him at 6-5 214. I am expecting him be the top TE prospect in Ohio next year, although Canal Fulton Northwest's Tim Caillet and Brunswick's Tyler Ferrell will have something to say about that.

One of the fastest rising Class of 2010 prospects in the state of Ohio is tight end Alex Smith (West Chester/Lakota West). The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Smith recently landed scholarship offers from Indiana and Cincinnati. He attended the Penn State at Ohio State game Saturday, and other schools Smith is interested in include Kentucky, where he has family, Michigan State and Pitt.

I would have Smith and the kid from Illinois on top of the TE board...Wouldn't mind seeing us go after 2 next year, if we have room and only take 1 this year...

Totally agree...Smith has a TON of potential. He has a great frame, great athleticism, he blocks fairly well already, has amazing hands, and can be split out wide. I really think Alex Smith may be the true pass threat TE we fans have been wanting. My guess: He earns an offer at camp.

Alex attended The Game and Cincinnati's game last weekend. He was impressed with both but tOSU's atmosphere was incredible. He is also considering Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Indiana, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Nebraska.

By Berk...coaches from BC and ND were at his basketball game earlier this week...Kentucky, Purdue and WVU have offered...has lots of family in Kentucky and visited UC with his mom this past weekend where they met with the staff.

Would love to see OSU offer Smith sooner rather than later...

Agreed. We aren't going to allure an OOS stud TE with our offense and Smith is an OSU lean, who is a flat out stud. It is only a matter of time imo.
