'11 IN PG/SG Jeremiah Davis (Cincinnati Signee)

Q&A: Jeremiah Davis
July 7

Jeremiah Davis is one of the top basketball prospects in the state of Indiana. The 6-foot-3 point guard already has scholarship offers from several of the nations top programs. I caught up with Davis Monday at the Adidas Take 5 tournament in Cincinnati.

Johnston: What are your thought's on Indiana?

Davis: I think Tom Crean is going to get them back to the top and I think a lot of people know that. He's very energetic and he knows how to coach.

Johnston: Kentucky's old staff was recruiting you. Have they been in contact since John Calipari was hired?

Davis: I haven't talked to Calipari but I have talked to his assistants.

Johnston: What have they told you?

Davis: They told that they are working on the class of 2010 right now.

Johnston: What schools are showing interest?

Davis: Right now, Indiana, Tennessee, Xavier, Ohio State, Wake Forest.

Johnston: Are you planning on taking any visits soon?

Davis: Not right now. Me and my family are going to get something planned.

Johnston: Where would you like to visit?

Davis: I would like to visit Kansas, UNLV, Xavier, Ohio State, Cincinnati and some others.

Johnston: Who do you model your game after?

Davis: People tell me I play like Deron Williams. Deron Williams is a great compliment.

Johnston: Do you see yourself when you watch Deron Williams?

Davis: Yeah I do. He's my favorite player, so I try and play like him.

Johnston: What do you like most about his game?

Davis: He's a smooth player. He plays relaxed all the time and he can put up a double-double up anytime.

Bearcats' Davis trims list to 'about six'
By Kyle Neddenriep
Posted: September 25, 2009

Muncie Central junior Jeremiah Davis has whittled down his list of potential college suitors "to about six" favorites.

So, how about that list?

"I'm keeping it to myself right now," said Davis, a 6-3 guard who is ranked No. 40 nationally by Rivals recruiting service in the 2011 class. "I took a step back and trimmed the list down a little. I just don't want to say anything until I've made a decision."

That decision likely will come during the upcoming Bearcats basketball season, Davis said. He has offers from Cincinnati, Dayton, Indiana, Purdue, Tennessee and Xavier, but that doesn't necessarily make up his list of "about six." Georgetown has shown recent interest as assistant coach Mike Brennan attended a recent open gym.

Davis also took a trip to Michigan earlier this month and has unofficial visits scheduled for Michigan State and Detroit in early October. He's tentatively planning to visit IU in October for the "Midnight Madness" event. Davis said he has been watching with some interest recently as 2010 prospect Kyrie Irving dropped IU from his list and the Hoosiers got involved with 2010 guard Josh Selby.

"I think you do that with everybody," Davis said. "You look at what the makeup of the team will look like and how you might fit in."

If he's committed to IU, then it appears to be news to him and everyone else! That article says he's been spurning "unofficial visit trip requests" to watch his brother play h.s. football instead - that's the "no brainer decision" the title refers to is supporting his brother/family over taking visits to colleges this fall. It says he's in no rush to visit schools let alone make a decision just yet.

Though IU may well be in the driver's seat, it is a misnomer to call him committed to them.

Central suspends guard Davis for game against Fort Wayne Snider
By JESSE TEMPLE ? [email protected] ? December 4, 2009

MUNCIE -- Central guard Jeremiah Davis has been suspended for tonight's boys basketball home game against Fort Wayne Snider because of actions he displayed during Tuesday's game.

Central principal Chris Smith announced the school's decision on Thursday.

Bearcats athletic director Tom Jarvis said the final decision was based on discussions with school administrators, coaches, players and parents.

Jarvis cited Davis' on-court behavior during Tuesday night's contest against Monroe Central in the Muncie Fieldhouse as grounds for the suspension.

Jarvis was aware of displeasure with Davis' actions within the community based in part on user comments he read on thestarpress.com.

"I hate it when I see those comments anyway, when they're ripping a 16-year-old kid," Jarvis said. "But at the same time, you can't ignore that as a school or an athletic department. I can ignore the comments, but if you were there at that game, you would have seen some things that I don't think displays the kind of character that we want."

Central coach Matt Fine called the matter a personnel issue within the program and declined to discuss specifics.

Davis is averaging 19.5 points in two games with the Bearcats this season. He scored 19 points on 8-of-17 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds in Central's 68-64 loss against Monroe Central on Tuesday night.

Davis, a 6-foot-3 junior, has reported basketball scholarship offers from Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Dayton and Ball State, among others.

is tOSU still recruiting Jeremiah? I haven't heard much about this.

The thread was obviously moved to the 2011 forum for a reason...one of the mods obviously doesn't think there is much mutual interest at this point.

Muncie Central's Davis is star on the rise
Recruiting heats up for prized junior guard
By Kyle Neddenriep

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Jeremiah Davis III parked his car in front of the storied Muncie Fieldhouse last week and slowly climbed out. As he crossed the street, wearing an oversized T-shirt, shorts and sunglasses, he walked with a slow and steady gait of someone much older than his 17 years.

Inside, coaches from Ball State, Dayton and Miami (Fla.) waited to watch him work out in an open gym. Michigan State assistant coach Mark Montgomery had visited him at school earlier in the day; Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin would get there later, catching the eye of Jeremiah Davis Jr., father of the prized junior recruit.

"You know they're serious," Davis Jr. said, "when the head coach comes by."

Adidas May Classic: Q&A with Jeremiah Davis

I caught up with Jeremiah Davis, the highly-touted guard from Muncie Central, as he was running out to grab a bite to eat with 2011 IU commit Austin Etherington. The interview was in the parking lot outside Cook Hall after Davis and a few family members had gotten a quick tour of the new practice facility.

(Can you talk about where you recruitment is at right now? I heard someone say that you had mentioned Arizona State recently as a team that had gotten involved.)

"Yeah, Arizona State called the other day and we talked for a little bit. But it's really about the same. It's wide open at this point.''

(Do you have a timetable for when you want to make a decision? Do you plan to take all of your officials visits or do you have a gameplan for that at this point?)

"Whenever I feel like everything falls into place that's what I plan to make my decision. It's not something I want to rush but I also don't want it to drag on either.''
