Maple Heights quarterback Shaq Washington dodges a tackle in the Mustangs' Division II state semifinal win over Lake Catholic last fall. The past couple of weeks have been pretty quiet on the recruiting side. The last scholarship offer that I have received is from Boston College.

I was excited about the offer. The school is known for its great educational program and that is a key factor in my college decision. The football program is also noticed for being one of the best teams in its conference, the Atlantic Coast Conference. So they definitely moved up on my list of schools that I have interest in.

One of the biggest things that has happened over the last few days is that I was honored with the Lou Groza Most Valuable Scholastics Player Award by the Cleveland Touchdown Club on March 20.

This is a big deal to me growing up watching some of my idols win this award like [former Glenville standout] Ted Ginn Jr. Then for me to win it for my junior season was a great accomplishment. Hopefully I could be the first two-year winner

I'm sure the height has a lot to do with a lack of offers (at least from OSU). Our only small, slot WR for this year looks like Shane Wynn. But this kid looks pretty talented, whoever gets him(if not us) is getting a good one

I wonder if this kid would warrant an offer if guys like Dorsett and Story go elsewhere. He had a good showing at the OSU camp this weekend. But I wouldn't be shocked if we stay put with our WR offers and just go with Wynn and Spencer

Recruiting is always a numbers game, and the math just got a little harder for USC - ESPN

Shaq to announce next week

Shaquille Washington (Maple Heights, Ohio/Maple Heights) may be small, but he's sure fun to watch. The 5-8, 150-pounder is very explosive and exciting with the football in his hands. Washington is athletic, superquick and versatile. Yes, there is a place for him in college football. He mainly plays quarterback in high school, but he projects as a slot receiver in college. Washington is a big play waiting to happen and is very dangerous in space because of his speed and elusiveness. As a junior, he accounted for more than 4,300 yards of offense (throwing and rushing) and 49 touchdowns.

Washington will announce his choice on July 7, and it appears he will choose between Cincinnati, Colorado, Duke and UCLA.
