'12 OH ATH Dion Dawson

They've been raving about his video over on BN since yesterday. The kid is playing running back and is apparently highly agile with good speed. There is a mild debate brewing about his true weight; some feel he's closer to 250-260 on the film. Either way the kid's a beast and is a huge fan of tOSU.

Wait til you see the video, the kid is unreal. I can't believe how well he moves for his size. In some of the clips it took 5 or more defenders to bring the kid down. It is crazy.

290? I wouldn't say that much, but he is a VERY BIG BOY! I would say he is in the 260 range. He is very impressive running the ball though.

Just wondering though, what is his competition like? Division?

I liked his film. I'd like to know/see how he does at camp.

Western Hills High (in Cincinnati).
Division 1, Region 4 (same as St. X, Elder, Moeller, Middletown)

They play in the 'Cincinnati Metro Conference' - same conference as Taft (with 2012 recruits: Stanford and Washington). The team looks to be 'mid-pack' in a below average conference (66 out of 107 per calpreps.com - which frankly is a better league than Glenville's conference (the Cleveland Senate league) - but Glenville's out of conference games are better).

2010 schedule:
8/27 A Richmond (IN) (2-8) [1:0] W 29-7
9/3 H Wlnt Hills (5-5) [2:8] W 34-28
9/10 A Roger Bacon (8-4) [3:12] L 21-52
9/18 A Shroder (6-4) [4:16] W 7-0
9/23 H Woodward (3-7) [1:4] W 14-8
10/2 A Aiken (2-8) [2:8] W 47-12
10/9 H Hughes Center (1-9) [2:8] W 42-8
10/15 A Withrow (6-4) [1:4] L 14-48
10/22 H Taft (7-4) [4:16] L 0-16
10/30 H Amelia (5-5) [2:8] W 43-22

A little old but...

My Final 8 | July

4 - Dion Dawson, DT/NG, Cincinnati Western Hills. This is one to sit back and wait on. Dawson is going to need to show some improvement in his grades. I think he has the support system around him to make that happen. He has coach Paul Jenne looking out for him now. You may recall coach Jenne got Hilliard Darby lineman Antonio Jeremiah eligible a few years back despite all indications that Jeremiah would be a JUCO player. He is now at Michigan State. Dawson is my top true DT in the class now. I rate him over Colerain's Trae Clark. Dawson is big and powerful enough to play the nose but explosive enough and quick enough to play the three-technique. He showed up at a camp recently and weighed 308. Nobody could believe the body they were looking at would weigh 308 lbs. Dion Dawson was born to weigh 320-330 lbs. Watch his stock go through the roof when his grades come in. That won't happen until after the season.
