'13 IL OL Ethan Pocic (LSU Verbal)

were really missing out on getting this OT prospects.

I guess we'll need to hope that Decker and Dodson really are the bookends of the future and that they can stay healthy.

I could see an offer going out to Lovell Peterson at camp, but he's more of an interior lineman as is Khaliel Rodgers. I don't see any other legit OTs on the radar at the moment unless you count Dorian Johnson who is a LONG shot.

Best of luck to Ethan on his choice.

Its only May. There will still be camp and some guys who shine during their senior year.

Take a breath, we'll be just fine.. oh yeah.. Trust the coaches.

This.

Sorry, don't get the "trust the coaches" in this scenario. The coaches offered...the player decided not accept the offer and go somewhere else. Has nothing to do with trusting the coaches in this case. When the coaches cool on a hot recruit or don't offer a kid at all then I get the comment...here, not so much.

It was meant more as a trust that the coaches will fill the position with quality more so than anything to do with this particular recruit.

Wow, very surprised this kid is leaving the midwest.

Ty Isaac left Illinois for USC, Pocic is now leaving for LSU. Those are two of the top 5 prospects in the entire state. If Treadwell winds up at Oklahoma or Oklahoma State that would be arguably the top 3 prospects in Illinois going out of the region to play college football.

The B1G cannot have that, period. The top kids in the midwest should be staying put. Makes for a stronger B1G, and quite frankly USC and LSU are in hot-beds for talent, they don't need to be coming into B1G region to get kids. I do not like it one bit.

OL recruiting in May of a kid's Jr. year is tough assessment-wise...the early commitment era has benefited OL more than any other group.

Relax.

I agree.

QB, OL, and DT are hands down the three hardest positions to scout for in my opinion, in that order, because these 16,17,18 year old kids are so far away from being the finished product they will need to be as 20, 21, 22 year old young men. The OL's and DT's need to undergo so much physical change and work on technique so much that it's extremely rare to find a high schooler that already has the size, strength, and technique to play early at one of those positions. With QB it's all about the mental part of the game as well as learning an offensive system in and out and being able to make the right calls and reads and be accurate with the football. That is just something that these recruiting sites will never be able to scout for.

Wow...we are the front runner for months and he picks LSU out of nowhere. Not really sure where OL recruiting goes from here. Lisle at RT is good, but I'm sure the staff is looking for two more OT's. Back to the drawing board.

Relax.

OSU will have plenty of OL to look at when camp rolls around. I'd love to see us nab a sleeper. Remember that Peterson was considered at worst a 4 star before he got sick. If the kid is back to near playing weight we may have a sleeper. This happens all the time when kids get injured and it hurts their stock.
