Ohio State is coming on late for Chicago Simeon shooting guard Kendrick Nunn, who is ranked No. 54 in the ESPN 100.

The senior released Friday a list of five schools he was considering to attend -- in alphabetical order, they are Illinois, Marquette, Memphis, Ohio State and UCLA.

On Ohio State: "For some reason, we didn't hear from them for 18 months," his father Melvin Nunn said to ESPNChicago.com. "I guess they liked the way they performed. They were trying to find a way to love him. Kendrick always had interest in Ohio State. He was just going to let his game do the talking. He got a call from them and offered. He loves Ohio State, and he won't get into, 'Where were you guys two years ago?' They got in before it's too late."

Kendrick Nunn, IMO, could have a fantastic career at tOSU in Coach Matta's system.

I think Nunn is another Lighty/Craft type who always plays hard and gives great effort all the time, so he is going to fit in great wherever he goes. I really hope he picks OSU.

Sounds like Groce is really putting the pressure on him to stay in-state. I hope Matta can convince him the master is a better fit than the pupil.

Nunn is a great get for John Groce, and will help him establish that winning culture that is so important to building a successful program. However, to get over the hump and compete for the Big Ten title and deep tourney runs again the Illini will need to get some big men that are worth their salt, and he doesn't have that yet.

I've never heard Groce say anything bad about Ohio State - I'm going to take that as nothing more than a little fun at his former employer's expense. I may be wrong, but I have to imagine Coach Matta would laugh at such a thing.
