Ohio State Offers 2014 New England Duo
By Alex Kline

The class of 2014 is stacked with athletic specimens. Two of which happen to live in Massachusetts and attend prep school in New Hampshire. Both have caught the attention of Thad Matta and many other coaches.

In the span of one week, Ohio State offered Noah Vonleh and Wayne Selden ? two of the top sophomores in the country.

Vonleh, a 2014 6-foot-7 forward from New Hampton, is ranked in the top-10 nationally and is having a great season under head coach Pete Hutchins. With a long wingspan and the ability to play all over on the court, he has acclimated himself as an elite player who still has a lot of room to improve. Vonleh has had numerous big games this year as he is averaging a double-double this season.

According to his AAU coach Vin pastore of Mass Rivals, Vonleh has offers from, ?Boston College, Syracuse, Kansas, Pittsburgh, Providence, Maryland, UConn, Georgetown, Auburn, Arizona, Marquette, Florida, UCLA, Georgia Tech and Ohio State.? To add to that, Pastore also says North Carolina is demonstrating significant interest in Vonleh.

Notebook: Top-five 2014 Noah Vonleh keeping things open
By Jeff Borzello | College Basketball Recruiting Blogger
June 28, 2012

With a strong upper body and a nose for the ball, 2014 prospect Noah Vonleh is one of the best rebounders in the country, regardless of class. To take his game to the next level, though, Vonleh is looking to expand his offensive repertoire.

The 6-foot-8 New Hampton Prep (N.H.) forward has been working on his perimeter game and ball-handling ability in an effort to become tougher to guard. It worked well at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, where Vonleh was one of the more impressive players, averaging 12.2 points and 6.5 rebounds. The NBA player he's looking to model his game after?

?Kevin Durant,? Vonleh said. ?He can score the ball and he can handle.?

Vonleh, ranked No. 3 in the class of 2014, is hearing from Boston College, Providence, UCLA, Auburn, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Arizona, Ohio State, Indiana, Connecticut and North Carolina.

He said Indiana, Ohio State, Boston College and Louisville were pursing him the hardest.

?Right now, I'm not making any visits,? Vonleh said. ?Just keeping it open.?

Coach Matta messed up w in 2012 class by letting Caris Levert escape to Meatchicken. I just hope he doesn't do the same in 2014 with the likes of Jae'Sean Tate. Jae'Sean is currently ranked #1 in state of Ohio and #53 in the class of 2014 nationally ... hopefully the staff doesn't miss out on this central ohio stud while out chasing pipe dreams across the country ...

PF Noah Vonleh, 6-foot-9, Haverhill (Mass.) New Hampton Prep 2014: Known as one of the elite talents nationally in the 2014 class, Vonleh showed promise in every area of the game -- without being excellent in any one aspect -- in his Massachusetts Rivals team's loss to the Atlanta Celtics. A gifted athlete who can really run and jump well for his size, Vonleh is always going to be at his best in stretches where he has his motor running high. When he's focused, like he was at times on Wednesday, he's a high-volume shotblocker, rebounder, scorer, and a game-changing athlete. Vonleh showed signs of transitioning slowly to being a wing player offensively as he handled the ball in the full-court. He also showed patience off the jab-step when attacking his man from the wing. Connecticut, UCLA, Pittsburgh, Kansas, and Ohio State were among the schools that watched Vonleh.

Noah Vonleh Shuffles Visits
October 30th, 2012

Noah Vonleh remains one of the most sought after players on the board in the Class of 2013 and the New Hampton (N.H.) forward has shuffled his visits somewhat because of his busy schedule.

The 6-foot-9 Vonleh will not make his visit to Syracuse this weekend as originally scheduled, but will still make the trip to Indiana Nov. 9-11, New Hampton coach Pete Hutchins confirmed Tuesday to SNY.tv.

Indiana just landed a commitment from Oak Hill (Va.) small forward Troy Williams and remains in the hunt for both Vonleh and DeMatha Catholic big man Beejay Anya, who told SNY.tv Monday he is down to the Hoosiers and N.C. State.

Vonleh will also visit Ohio State the weekend after Thanksgiving (Nov. 30-Dec.2).

Vonleh is also considering Syracuse, Georgetown, UConn and North Carolina and Hutchins said they are ?working on? visits to the aforementioned Big East schools.

?It?s difficult with his New Hampton basketball schedule,? the coach said.

Hutchins said they are also ?planning an unofficial to North Carolina? sometime between Dec. 27-29 while the team is in Raleigh (N.C.) for a tournament.

Thanks! That is not good though. I was hoping he'd be able to visit us and still sign early right after. Now we have to hope he doesn't fall in love with IU and that we can still get him to commit after his visit here even though it means waiting until April to sign him. That is not a great scenario. I think he'll visit others later in the season.

These last two recruiting classes have just not matched up with us. Committing before visiting us, visiting us at the wrong times and then committing elsewhere anyway. Bad luck or poor recruiting?
