WAYNE-SELDEN150_0409.JPG

Small forward
Tilton, New Hampshire
Tilton School
Ht:6'4"
Wt:200 lbs
Strength:Outstanding
Class:2014 (High School)

Strengths:
A powerful forward who already owns a man's body, Selden is strong as an ox and able to overpower virtually anyone in his age bracket. He goes strong to the rim, going right at any shot-blocker, and consequently getting to the free-throw line in high volume. He is at his best in the open floor where he combines his power with some break-away athleticism and good instincts. While he is naturally a good passer, his perimeter skill set is also coming along with both his three-point shot and mid-range pull-up vastly improved.

Weaknesses:
While Selden shows glimpses of explosive athleticism in the open floor, the rest of his game is void of any explosion. He doesn't have an explosion first step, won't rise up in a congested lane, and shoots a set shot off both the catch and the dribble. His ceiling is likely to be determined by how he progressing physically. If he doesn't grow more, he could plateau as a six-foot-four combo-forward.

Bottom Line:
A physically dominant player, Selden dominates players in his own age bracket but will need to continue to get more skilled and learn to incorporate his athleticism into his game as his peers begin to catch up with him physically.

Wayne Selden doesn?t mince words when discussing his status among the top players in the class of 2014.

?I?m the best player in the country,? Selden said. ?I don?t think it?s that I?m better than everyone; it?s just my will to win. I think I?m the best player every time I step on the court.?

Selden, a 6-foot-4 Tilton (N.H.) product, has other things to prove as well.

?I want to show I?m not a small forward,? he said. ?I have guard skills, I can guard other guards.?

The BABC stud has offers from Kentucky, West Virginia, Boston College, Pittsburgh and Connecticut, as well as interest from Ohio State, Duke and others.

2014 Prospect: Wayne Selden
by Alex Schwartz

Wayne Selden is only in the class of 2014, but the 6-foot-5, 225-pound shooting guard is already a big-time name in recruiting circles. A star on the AAU circuit with BABC, Selden was a key part in the team winning the Nike Peach Jam/EYBL Finals.

Selden, who attends the Tilton School (NH), took the time to speak with VUSports.com while at the Riverview Park Activities Center for the prestigious AAU tournament.

At this point, Selden claims offers from West Virginia, Boston College, Kentucky, Pitt, and UConn to go along with interest from Ohio State, Duke and Arizona. There are some other schools involved and Selden noted that his list is "basically Big East and ACC" programs.

Wayne Selden said he has offers from Kentucky, Boston College, Connecticut, West Virginia and Pittsburgh. He has interest from Ohio State, Arizona and Providence. He noted, ?A lot more other schools in the Big East, ACC.?

He also said Duke was recruiting him ?during the school year, I don?t know anything about that now.?

He has visited BC and Providence. On whether he has any visits planned, ?As of now no, but I want to.?

Selden has no favorites and does ?not at all? have a timetable for a commitment.

As Ohio State offered on Thursday, the Buckeyes gave out another scholarship to Wayne Selden last week.

Selden, a 2014 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Tilton, may be out for the rest of the high school season with an injury but that has not slowed his recruitment. After recently adding offers from UCLA and Virginia, Buckeyes? assistant coach Jeff Boals came down to see him last week after watching Vonleh beforehand.

?We watched the team practice together and spoke about Ohio State,? said Selden. ?It?s a great school and I?m excited that they offered me.?

Selden now has offers from the Bruins, Cavaliers and Buckeyes, along with Boston College, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Providence, West Virginia, UConn, Missouri and Florida.

Five-star prospect Wayne Selden reclassifies back to 2013

By Jeff Borzello | College Basketball Recruiting Blogger
June 8, 2012

Nerlens Noel made waves in February when he announced he was moving back to the class of 2012. On Friday, another Tilton (N.H.) prospect stole the headlines with a reclassification announcement.

Wayne Selden, a five-star prospect in the class of 2014, is moving back into the class of 2013.

Selden, a 6-foot-5 guard, first reclassified when he transferred from John D. O'Bryant (Mass.) to Tilton.

?I believe I am physically and academically ready to go back to my original class,? Selden told ESPN.com's Paul Biancardi, who broke the news.

Selden was ranked No. 7 in CBSSports.com's 2014 rankings, but could drop a few spots when we release our updated 2013 rankings in a couple of weeks. With that said, Selden will still be a five-star prospect.

Plenty of colleges will make Selden a priority, but he told ESPN.com his list included Florida, UCLA, Kansas, Ohio State, Kentucky, Harvard and Connecticut.

Wayne Selden Says Several Schools Working Hard
By Adam Zagoria on June 25, 2012

Ever since reclassifying to the Class of 2013 from 2014, Wayne Selden?s recruitment has sped up significantly.

Instead of having to pick a school a year from now, the 6-foot-4 Tilton (N.H.) School small forward will try to select a school this year.

?The schools coming the hardest probably would be Florida, Ohio State, Missouri, UCLA, Harvard and Kansas,? Selden said from the Kevin Durant Skills Academy in Chicago. ?[They are] coming at me the hardest.?

Selden has no visits planned yet, but said, ?I?m going to visit some schools but I?m not sure which ones at which times.?

From looking at his videos, Selden is a heck of an athlete, although the release point on his shots are kind of low (when he's not dunking!). Looks like a great prospect.

I read that Selden is originally from Boston, so none of his 6 finalists qualifies as a "hometown" favorite.

Selden participated in the Elite 24 game today. He reminds me of a Dion Waiters type SG, maybe a little taller than Waiters - if he picks Syracuse, he'd draw a lot of comparisons to Waiters. He's got great strength and athleticism for sure.

Wayne Selden Needs To Be A Buckeye

Selden is already thinking like a pro and producing on the court like one. He looks good in this video at the Boston and New York Pro-Am [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz7ntaCxxUM"]Wayne Selden Boston/New York Pro-Am Tour - YouTube[/ame]

Former O?Bryant High and current Tilton hoop star Wayne Selden has given a verbal commitment to play for the University of Kansas in the fall of 2013.

Ranked among the top 20 players in virtually every national ranking, Selden narrowed his choices down to Kansas, Syracuse and Florida, according to his AAU coach, Leo Papile of the BABC.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound swingman his varsity career very early on at O?Bryant. He was called up to the varsity as a seventh-grader and spent three years there before transferring to Tilton following his freshman year.
