Power forward
Chicago, Illinois
Curie
Ht:6'8"
Wt:240 lbs
Class:2014 (High School)

Strengths:
Alexander is a big mobile post that is a terror on the class. He snatches everything that comes off in his area with force and is not afraid to put hia body on his opponnet. He also was active and blocked shots in and out of his area. Alexander did a great job with screen and roll situations as well. He set wide screens and rolled hard tob the rim which he dunk when he received the pocket pass. He also showed a nice hook over his left shoulder. Alexander ran the floor and played with good urgency at all times.

Weaknesses:
Alexander must continue to work to stay in shape so consistent work on strength and conditioning is a must. He must also build his back to the basket moves and learn to face and hit the jumper to about 15 feet and his game goes to the next level.

Bottom Line:
Alexander is a strong and physical post that can rebound, block shots and finish. He plays hard and competes on both ends. He must work to stay in shape and build his offenasive scoring package but this big man has tremendous upside.
Notes

Ohio State, Kansas, Iowa and USC are showing early interest...

Cliff Alexander, 6′-8″, 2014, C, Curie (IL)/Team Rose: There?s a reason Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio State trekked to a distant gym at 9:00 PM, and it wasn?t the nachos at the concession stand at Foothill High School. While many know of Jahlil Okafor, the 2014 post from Whitney Young in Chicago that made the USA Basketball 16U team, the Windy City appears to have another elite post prospect in the same class. Alexander is a live body that does have touch on his shot. He can move and finish with a degree of fluidity. Alexander is capable of being a highly-rated player nationally in the 2014 class.

6'9 Chicago Curie Star Cliff Alexander Takes In Midnight Madness At Michigan State........Spartans Stepping Up Their Efforts
Written by Scott Burgess
Tuesday, 18 October 2011

College basketball programs across the country would love to have Curie center Cliff Alexander on campus for their Midnight Madness. This year that distinction went to the Michigan State Spartans. Alexander talks about his time in East Lansing .

?When I got there we saw the Magic Johnson statue. In the film room we watched a highlight film. After that Coach Dane showed us around. Then we walked in the gym and the midnight madness got started. On Saturday morning we went over to the gym and Coach Izzo pulled me in his office and talked to me. Then we walked over to the football field.?

What did Coach Izzo speak with the sophomore about?

?He talked about how he is going to start recruiting me harder and how I play like Amare Stoudemire.?

Alexander was impressed with the atmosphere at the midnight madness. He spoke about what stands out with their program.

?The coaches and the campus.?

He is one of the hottest prospects in the country and currently has an offer list of Tennessee , Michigan State, Illinois, DePaul , Indiana, Florida State, UConn, Ohio State, Providence, Kansas, Bradley, and Wisconsin.

Notebook: Michigan State out front for Cliff Alexander

Michigan State is the early leader for Cliff Alexander, who is looking like a potential top-five player in 2014. (Adidas)

LONG BEACH, Calif. ? Cliff Alexander has been known as one of the top 10 or 15 prospects in the class of 2014 for some time now. At the Pangos All-American Camp last weekend, though, he made his claim for a top-five or even top-three nod.

Alexander, a 6-foot-9 center from Curie (Ill.), came away with Most Outstanding Player honors at the camp. He simply dominated down low, using his size and strength to overpower opponents. He played with great energy and made an effort to get good position for entry passes. He knows how to finish inside, and he knocked down face-up jumpers.

As far as recruiting, he is hearing from Michigan State, Illinois, DePaul, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee and Connecticut.

Michigan State is the leader right now, with Alexander pointing to Spartans' coach Tom Izzo as the main reason.

Ohio State is also squarely in the running, and a visit could be in the works.

?I like the coaching staff, [Jared] Sullinger, Thad Matta,? Alexander said
.

CLIFF ALEXANDER TAKING HIS TIME

Entering the camp one of the hottest names in the recruiting landscape had been Cliff Alexander, a Class of 2014 C/PF from Curie High School in Chicago. The 6-foot-9 Alexander recently had an impressive showing at the Pangos All-American camp and quickly solidified himself among the elite prospects in the class.

Alexander played well this week at UVA, averaging 9 points and 6.6 rebounds a game, the rebounding number was good for the third highest average of the entire camp of 110 players.

While virtually the entire country is certainly interested in a talent like Alexander and he will be one of the highest recruited players in the class without a doubt, he mentioned schools such as Michigan State, Indiana, Louisville, Florida, Florida State, Connecticut, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Iowa, DePaul, and Michigan as having shown interest and/or offered at this point. However, Alexander readily admitted the recruiting process is not something too much of a priority to him quite yet.

?I really don?t pay much attention to it,? Alexander told NBE Sports of recruiting.

While many media outlets have reported that Michigan State has put themselves into a very strong early position for Alexander, he talked of another Big 10 program that has caught his eye.

?I think they?re going to make it to the Sweet 16 next year,? Alexander said of Indiana. ?They got a lot of players coming in, a couple guys from my class committed already. I think they?ll be pretty good.?

Alexander has made it to Bloomington for an unofficial visit and liked what he saw around the Hoosier program.

?It?s a great campus,? he said. ?I loved the practice facility and the coaching staff. I?d love it out there.?

Would that make Indiana a leader for his services?

?Yea, right now I think they are,? said Alexander.

However, as mentioned, Alexander isn?t really paying much attention to the recruiting process right now. Plus, another statement Alexander made to NBE Sports that will keep many fans of IU, MSU or others from getting too excited too early on the prospects of seeing Alexander don their favorite school?s uniform, when asked if he had a dream school while growing up he said that would be Kentucky.
