Southern Regional (Manahawkin, N.J.) standout, Mike Gesicki, is one of the most sought-after tight ends throughout the northeast. His combination of size and ability to catch the football has made him a top choice for multiple programs across the country. NJ.com caught up with Gesciki who discussed his Rutgers recruitment, in-depth, his time frame for a decision, the schools he has visited this summer and will visit going forward, his top six, his position preference and much more. Let's get it on!

TH: What you been up to, Mike?

MG: A lot of traveling, seeing different schools, seeing different places, staying busy working out. I've been busy, but I've been enjoying myself.

I've been to Ohio State, I was at Miami (Fla.), and I was up at Florida State. I'll be at Duke tomorrow (yesterday), Wisconsin next Tuesday, Penn state next Friday. And I know I'm going to a Rutgers practice, again, when they start up. So, I'll be around.

TH: You released a top five a month or so, ago. Has anything changed since then?

MG: I have a top six, now. My top six after going to see all these schools and different places I've been, in no order: Miami (Fla.), Rutgers, Florida State, Penn State, Wisconsin and Ohio State.

TH: Are you getting any closer to making a final decision, Mike?

MG: I'm gonna go to games, and I think the last game I have set up is in the middle of October. So after I get all the experiences going to games, I think I'm gonna get it all out; probably by the end of October, very beginning of November.

His recruitment becomes more important given Thomas' condition.

Not really. We have Jt Moore providing depth in his place now. We can focus more on a TE in the 2015 class. I personally don't see us getting gesicki.

You could say the same thing about the Knox commitment and Price being moved to the OL. Some could argue that we don't need Mavety or Prince as much as we need a premiere TE.

I know that others think that Lattimore and Smith are a package deal, but if I had the choice of getting Gesicki or Smith, I would take Gesicki because I think we have a greater need for a premiere TE. JMO.

Disagree completely. Moore is a junior DL who, as far as I know, is completely unproven as a college TE. The fact that they are desperate enough for TE depth that they are willing to move him seems to make getting a TE in this class a huge priority. If this assumption is correct, I imagine that their depth concerns will be explained in detail to Gesicki...

I know its your personal opinion, and we're all entitled to our own. But to me its 2 different scenarios, because OL is more important than a TE, imo. Alabama and the rest of the sec have been so dominant because one of their strongest units was always the OL, and they constantly reloaded with elite talent

Southern Regional (Manahawkin, N.J.) senior receiver, Mike Gesicki, attended Rutgers practice Thursday. But even more interesting is the fact that he remained on-campus until late Thursday evening.

NJ.com has yet to confirm just how late Gesicki stuck around. But any time one of the top prospects in the state goes above and beyond in displaying a high comfort-level with the program, it's obviously a step in the right direction for Rutgers.

Gesicki holds upwards of 20 offers, and recently released to NJ.com a top six consisting of Rutgers, Miami (Fla.), Florida State, Penn State, Wisconsin and Ohio State.

Top rated in-state tight end prospect, Mike Gesicki, took an unofficial visit to Rutgers, Thursday. The 6-6, 240-pound pass-catcher was accompanied by two friends while on campus, and spent a total of six hours experiencing different components of the Rutgers program. The Southern Regional (Manahawkin, N.J.) standout recapped his latest Rutgers trek with NJ.com Saturday morning, while getting some sun at Ship Bottom in Long Beach Island, N.J.

"I was up at Rutgers for maybe six hours," said Gesicki, who left campus at 10 p.m. ET, Thursday evening. "We just watched practice then watched film with coach (Ron) Prince and (Matt) Simon. Then we left after meetings."

Gesicki considers the visit a routine check on one of his top six remaining collegiate choices.

"It was great," said the senior. "Nothing has changed with Rutgers. I just went up to go and see practice. Coach Flood is doing a great job and the team is really responding."

Head coach Kyle Flood's message to Gesicki remains unchanged.

"He told me they want and need me to be a part of the team that takes Rutgers to the top," he said. "And I could be a major part of their offense."

With Rutgers attaining an onslaught of elite pledges over the past couple months, has that made Rutgers an even more attractive option for the nationally recruited star?

"Not really," he responded. "I'm making this decision for me, not off what other people do. I'm very happy for the other recruits and the Rutgers football program, but I need to do what's right for me."
