Lake Braddock QB Caleb Henderson packs his bags
Posted by Preston Williams on April 10, 2013

It will be quite a busy next several days for Lake Braddock junior quarterback Caleb Henderson. His dad, Eric, said earlier this week that they play to visit North Carolina on Wednesday, Virginia Tech on Friday, Tennessee on Saturday and perhaps Georgia on Sunday or Monday.

Henderson picked up his latest offer last week from Boston College.

recruiting-insider?He?s been on the road a lot and doing a lot of combines and a lot of training, too,? said Eric Henderson, dean of students at Lake Braddock and the football team?s defensive coordinator. ?He?s been a busy kid. He?s tired. We?ve tried to cycle back on the training just so he could catch his breath.?

Henderson works out with outside quarterback coaches a couple of times a week. He has a trainer in Maryland and also a speed coach, and Lake Braddock is using some of its ?green days,? when the team can practice out of season.

Henderson completed 210 of 327 passes last year for 2,435 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also rushed 103 times for 453 yards and nine scores.

Rated by rivals.com as the country?s 65th-best prospect at any position, the 6-foot-4, 226-pound Henderson also has an Elite 11 regional quarterback competition on April 20 at Redskins Park. The three-hour camp will include instructional drills, accuracy competitions and other tests of quarterbacking skills. The Ashburn stop is one of six regional competitions.

Based on performances at the regional events, some of the top quarterbacks in the country will be invited to the five-day Elite 11 Quarterback Competition in California during the summer.

As for selecting a school, the family is in no hurry. In addition to the visits scheduled for this week, the Hendersons plan to visit Miami later this month and they want to make a return trip to Illinois and also drop in on Purdue, Nebraska, West Virginia and perhaps other schools.

?It?s got to be the right fit, and Caleb has to feel comfortable about where he?s going, his mom has to like the coach, and I have to feel good about the football program and the direction,? Eric Henderson said. ?We?re constantly talking, but I don?t think there?s any timetable yet.?
