#15 Michigan State 62, #16 Ohio State 59 (final, 2OT)

MSU has the inside players like Indiana did to get Dials into foul trouble. And they have much quicker perimeter players to keep us from getting open threes. We're going to need some of that home-cookin' officiating the Big Ten is known for to win by double-digits.

This should be a very good game - one that Ohio State can use to send a message that it is a real contender in the Big Ten. Nothing this team has done so far has surprised me, but to beat Michigan State even at home is something I wouldn't have predicted at the beginning of the year.

I would give an edge to MSU in the frontcourt due to their depth. I think Dials will outplay Davis. I have to disagree with the backcourt being quicker than ours. I believe we have the edge here.

I have watched MSU several times and they are very inconsistent, especially on the road, I think tOSU wins by at least 10. We shoot well at home and watch for Lewis to have a big game. Also, they are near the bottom in the league in defending the 3 point shot.

We will win this game on the defensive end. As usual the key will be to keep Dials out of foul trouble.

Can someone verify whether this game is on TV in columbus? On 10tv, it lists alabama, not OSU.

my spartan dad has been very worried about this game, as we do some friendly jawing about our team via email. He's not looking forward to facing our lethal bombers, especially with their meager perimeter D. He's even kind enough to drive down from MI to let us witness the victory in person :)

MSU opponents: Wisky 47%, Illinois 47%, Coppin St 52%, FIU 50%, Clev St 45%, IPFW 48%, Gonzaga 44%, Hawaii 42%.

Michigan State just got done pounding Indiana by 14

I don't put much stock in that win, when its compared to our loss vs Indiana. A key player did not play for Indiana against Michigan State which in my opinion was the difference. (DJ White)

I think Michigan State is very good, but their biggest weakness is our biggest strength, perimeter shooting. If our shots start falling, look out.

Let's go spartans baby. Come on.

Should be a game that goes down to a wire. Michigan State needs it the most but with Northwestern and Minnesota being the only teams that have lost at home so far in the big ten this year it will be tough.

MSUs Perimeter defense has not been that bad. Neitzel misses an assignment once and a while but mostly it's just great shooting by the op.

Monroe does nothing for IU and White has only played in 4 games this year. MSU was at home so they should have won anyway but to make it sound state only one because white was out is blasphamous..

Probably not a lot of ppl know this but both Walton and Butler are both Lima, so this could become a nice little rivalry between the two.

I know Walton wasnt offered by us, but I heard from one of his friends that asked him why he wasnt going to Ohio st. and he said b/c he didnt want to follow Butler.

Michigan State just got done pounding Indiana by 14, right after Indiana beat us. I don't see how the computers think we'll win by as much as 10.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense and you could well be right.

Michigan State is a good team but the comparison may not be a valid one, Mili.

  • MSU had Indiana at home, we had them at Indiana.
  • Indiana is a VERY different team with D.J. White in the front court. White was back for his second game only this year and played well. He discovered after the game that he had been injured in a pile-up during the second half. He didn't play at MSU and is out 4-6 weeks.
  • According to Greenfield's model, Indiana plays 6.3 points better at home than on the road.
  • MSU has one of the best home court advantages, 9.6 points.
  • We moved the Indiana game out a day because of the conflicting bowl game and then the NCAA moved it closer a day because of TV schedules, so we had only two days between games.
  • The refs blew the game Indiana's way.
Our home advantage has been only 2.0 points this year, so far, but I think this is a statement game and I think our guys feel disrespected. This is their chance to say they deserve a top 15 ranking and to remind everyone focused on Oden and the gang that Ohio State has a good team this year. I think the Schott will be full and rockin' and I think that home court advantage goes up to at least five points.

Call me crazy guys, I'll stay with 12.
