i really, really like this offer for a number of reasons:

1. kid's stock is on the rise. he is in the midst of making massive strides with his game and physique. he is already T50, if he can continue to get in better shape then stay in better shape while refining his all-around game, he could end up T25 when it's all said and done.
2. the timing of the offer is good. communicates that you want him to join his AAU teammate Mickey Mitchell (doesn't hurt in solidifying our standing with Mickey, either) but also gets in their early with the official offer relative to many of the other elite programs. establish that relationship, give us a legit chance at landing the Texas kid. that plus the fact that it will be a position of need/opportunity, plus we can sell him Sullinger comparisons.
3. speaking of, if we don't get Okafor (and i don't think we will) but get Davis, he'd be the most offensively skilled big man we would have added since Sully. which then in turn leads me to how i like the following:
4. the complementary diversity of options for the C spot in '15-16. Bell is the guy who is all potential right now, great measurables and athleticism but no polished skill sets and needing to add strength/bulk. Davis would be sort of the opposite of that with less than ideal height and athleticism but a lot more skill than Bell and a wide body. Matta could go with different looks, gazelle or aircraft carrier, heh.
