#16 Ohio State vs. #10 Villanova, Wednesday, November 13 @ 7:00pm, FS1

Ohio State played with the moxie of a team that had 4 games of experience last night rather than 2. I guess 2 is the new 4!

Sharp-Shooting Buckeyes Throttle No. 10 Villanova 76-51

Ohio State used a fast start, a 40-minute defense, and a balanced attack of five double-digit scorers to distance themselves quickly and completely from No. 10 Villanova, beating the Wildcats 76-51 in front of a raucous Value City Arena crowd.

The No. 16 Buckeyes (3-0) came into Wednesday night’s game against Villanova (1-1) expecting a fight, and before the visiting squad ever began throwing punches, they were well behind on most of the judges’ cards.

Case in point — before Villanova even had their second field goal, the Buckeyes had scored 21 points.

Sophomore guard Duane Washington scored a game-high 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting. He connected on four of his six three-point attempts. Junior forward Kaleb Wesson added 10 points and 11 rebounds, and blocked four shots without committing a single foul.

Ohio State opened with three-consecutive three-point baskets, with the first two coming from Duane Washington. The third was courtesy of CJ Walker to give the Buckeyes a 9-0 lead less than two minutes into the action.

A three from Villanova freshman forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl stopped the run — or at least paused it for a second or two.

Ohio State’s next three possessions featured a layup and and-one for Walker, followed by a dunk and another three-pointer from Washington, making it 17-3 at the 17:00 mark of the first half.

Four minutes later, sophomore guard Luther Muhammad got into the three-point act with a distance basket of his own to make it 25-7. A layup by forward Kyle Young one minute later gave the Buckeyes their first 20-point lead of the game just eight-and-a-half minutes after tip.

Following a three-pointer from Villanova freshman guard Justin Moore to cut that lead to 17, the Buckeyes connected on consecutive layups by Walker, Kaleb Wesson, and then Walker again. Muhammad then added another three-pointer a couple of minutes later to make it 36-10 with 6:33 remaining.
