'17 OH C Derek Culver (West Virginia Verbal)

Seems pretty developed for his grade...don't know if he is a true sophomore but if he is legitimate I don't understand why there is no hype for him yet,!??!!?!
Maybe it is because he does not have an offer which means Matta might think there are other big man that are better prospects. Another thought is the fact that we might not have any scholarships available for that year unless somebody transfers from the current roster.

It's still early for Culver, but if that's what Matta thought, I'm sure that he changed his mind after WGH played Mentor in the playoffs. Culver had 26 points, 17 rebounds, and 6 blocks against junior C Micah Potter, who has an offer from Ohio State. Just one game & Potter is a very nice prospect (best big man ever at Mentor, who is traditionally known for their great guard play), but a lot of eyes were opened.

With all due respect to Derek's game, I guess the game against Mentor and Potter did not mean very much in Matta's eyes.

Many nice schools are looking at Derek (even Ohio State is peeking, though they have some nice big men coming in the future), but Potter is a nice prospect who made a wise decision to commit before his senior year. I'm happy for him & the Mentor Cardinal community. They've been a great program for a while now & they deserve to watch their players play on the big stage.

Chances are Potter took Culvers spot for future center. Good thing too, Potter looks like the better player. Bigger, more Physical, more all around scoring game, former guard who had a growth spurt in the last year and a half

This summer will be huge for Culver's recruitment.
