Game Thread (2004) Bowl Game: MasterCard Alamo Bowl - Oklahoma State - 12/29/04 (W, 8-4/4-4)

JWil, no need for piling on by us Bucks. I was one that called you out for not giving Zwick more respect in your very fine write-up on our O. Of course, that was merely my opinion, based upon our team much earlier in the season, where Zwick had little time to show any passing skills. How things change.

IMHO, it think Oklahoma State was a bit taken aback by our D's speed, while our offensive game plan proved to be effective. The reason Coach Miles and staff didn't run your premier back more often is because he wasn't very effective on the inside against our defense.

Another observation leading to your "drubbing": I really never saw any game spirit by Oklahoma State.

Thanks for your interest and the very good blogs going into the contest.

"I really never saw any game spirit by Oklahoma State."

I agree. There's a hot rumor Miles is LSU-bound. It's almost like he told the team before the game: "Go out there and win. BTW, I'm going to Baton Rouge."

Who the hell knows. We put 35 points up on OU and Texas and 7 on Ohio State. Our team was an enigma as much as Ohio State this season.

Thanks for the good words. I'll do a "closing thought" column early next week after I get a bit further from the game. lol

You guys are soft and I'm piling on. What is the deal with your cheerleaders running out of the camera shot just because some football player is heading out of bounds right at them? That is a bunch of crap. The girls need to learn to do a quick side step and always stay in the shot of the camera.

Actually, I did not read your pre-game scouting reports, but I'm not sure how many of us expected the game to go the way it did (my assistant is pissed Ok St lost as she took them in her bowl pool). I was surprised how little you guys ran it. It looked like the offense just never found its rhythm. I think we are more than willing to let you guys have the Outback Bowl and we will take the Alamo Bowl.

Now, let's see some more pics of those Ok St girls

While it is my style to "pile on" I just don't feel right doing it when invited to do so. Actually, it's because you and the posters that have come over have been good posters and a welcome addition. I didn't agree with some of your analysis, but as 21 said, based on the numbers you were reviewing I'm hard pressed to say it was off base. We all know our favorite teams better than any "outsider" so, that stands to reason. Anyway, keep up the good work. And, hey.... You still claim Barry Sanders as an alum, so....

"It pains me more than you know to hear that."

Dude, I was *SHOCKED*!!! You guys are great on here and it blindsided me.

For those that weren't there, there was a bowl rally. One of those "Both teams and their fans are there" deal. Anyway, so it was like "Okla St cheerleaders" then "Ohio St" and back and forth.

Then the players came out and said some things on each side. And the bands floated the river.

The audience was about 65-35 Ohio State fans because well, many of the Oklahoma State fans are closer and made a shorter trip out of the whole deal. Anyway... I was surprised, becuase anytime the Cowboys folks did anything, we were booed.

And no, this isn't sour grapes. I woulda came here to bitch about it even if the Cowboys won. I was so shocked I didn't know how to take it.

What really gets me though is when our DB, Jamie Thompson, speaks. To paraphrase, he said "I'm glad we're here in SA and I know all us Cowboys are looking forward to playing such a quality program as Ohio State." *BBOOOOOOOOOOOO****

?????????

I was shocked. I had no probs with Bucks online... the Bucks in SA to that point were okay... but then that rally and the boo birds show up.

I was just disappointed because the Cowboy fans just stayed quiet during the Buck players and Sloopy and all.

see.. your fans are the blame for your team not having any spirit come game time... your team needed you to fight back... so there we have the root cause... the Ok St fans... our fans would have booed the pope if we were playing ND

JWil: Sorry to hear about a lack of class on the part of some of our fans. While I was watching the game, I was wondering the whole time why OkSt seemed so flat. There may be more to the rumor about Miles bailing to LSU than we know...

No... Cowboy fans don't boo their players. Never. Boo the coaches? Yes. But not the players. It's not our style. That's a Sooner thing.

Mililani: I don't know the whole story, but I get enough backchannel buzz to believe that that may have very well happened. Miles has recruited very well against LSU... so, that whole "get him to save yourself" approach may be working here.
