JERSEY

From the ozone:

August 18, 2006 6:45 PM
Football: There was a threat of inclement weather for Saturday, so OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel decided to reschedule the jersey scrimmage for this afternoon. And, of course, it rained like cats and dogs during the scrimmage.
The offense ran over 170 plays and when the allotted time expired, the score was tied 65-65. After an impromptu "rules conference" Tressel decided that the outcome of the scrimmage would be decided by one play from the three-yard line. OSU quarterback Troy Smith got off a pass, but safety Brandon Mitchell knocked it down to give the defense a 66-65 win and the right to retain the scarlet jerseys for practices in the upcoming season.

D

I heard on 1460 it was a shoulder, but no word on how severe.

Anyone else thinking that the D winning this is a GREAT sign? I mean, we all know what's expected of the O this year (and I recognize today's rain wasn't the best offensive weather) and that the D won the scrimmage says to me, these kids can play.

from scout.com
Some of the standouts on defense included linebacker Marcus Freeman (unofficially six tackles, two tackles-for-loss, one sack), Coleman (seven tackles, two pass break-ups and an interception), linebacker Larry Grant (six tackles, one for a loss and a pass break-up), safety Aaron Gant (eight tackles and a fumble recovery), Mitchell (four tackles, two pass break-ups and an interception), linebacker James Laurinaitis (six tackles with one for a loss), linebacker Thaddeus Gibson (seven tackles with a pass break-up), linebacker John Kerr (seven tackles with a sack), Larimore (four tackles and a fumble recovery) and defensive tackle David Patterson (two tackles-for-loss

Im glad they showed up and competed. It sounds like they did ok
