High School 2006 Ohio Playoffs (official thread)

I am gonna hit up the Ferry game Friday night, and would go to the Bellaire - St C game, cept I have to work on Saturday, and of course there is another team playing that I am rather fond of

Find it funny that Steubenville is playing a team that Ferry destroyed 2 weeks ago. That does not bode well at all for John Glenn.

I agree, but dont count out Coldwater. Those boys seem to find a way to win every week.
from what i remember, they surely did in cross country. i think it was in 1993 or 1994 that five of their runners finished in the top-20 of the division one state meet. at the division meet held at lancaster high school (which had a difficult but great course), their top runner ran the first mile in sub-4:30! again, that includes the hills from a challenging course.

With my team out of the playoffs.......:(.............I'm gonna hit up another game this week.

I was thinking of going to the Marion-Franklin(#1 Seed) vs. Uniontown-Lake(#8 Seed) game, to support a fellow City League school, but I'm not sure if I wanna be down in that part of town.:tongue2:

So I'm probably going to go to the Pick Central(#2 Seed) vs. Canfield(#7 Seed) game. Pick is probably the best team in that region out of D2. Maybe the best in the state in D2 all together.

Fairfield County has a shot at taking home 5 State Titles
...it's a little bit of an outside shot, but I have my fingers crossed

I look for Lancaster to make it into the Regional Final this year...the last few years they have lost to some opponents they should have beaten and I think this time they have everything going right and will make it over the hump...if Pick Central goes out before the Final four in D2 I'll be pretty surprised...Amanda Clearcreek will get it on track and contend again this year in D5...Fairfield Union has some nice offense and can win a couple of games, unfortunately Desales is in their region...and Fisher Catholic is a pretty good D6 team, if they can get past Newark Catholic they can make it a few rounds deep

Go Northwest Conference! It's pretty amazing when a 9-team conference can send 5 teams to the playoffs:

D-V, Region 20: Lima Central Catholic, Allen East, Spencerville
D-VI, Region 22: Columbus Grove
D-VI, Region 24: Ada

The NWC is guaranteed to have at least one team move on to the next round as Allen East hosts Spencerville tomorrow tonight... the winner of that game will play #1 seed LCC if LCC wins. Ada plays at county rival Hardin Northern tonight while Columbus Grove, who started out 0-3 then handed LCC their only loss of the season, sneaks in with a 6-4 record and plays at Monroeville.

You're thinking of Caldwell, not Coldwater and it was the Division III meet. Caldwell had a dominant team in the late 80's and early 90's. Coldwater is on the west side of the state and runs their regional meet at Troy not Lancaster.

Ashland handles Southview 47-34

South view scores with 25 seconds left. Final AHS 47 SSHS 34.
Game was not nearly as close as the final score. Ashland at one point was up 47-20 and at that point they went into conservative mode.
Ashland is just a solid football team. A smart team thatr doesn't make many mistakes. Good defense and an offense with numerous weapons. They spread the ball evenly to 4 different Wr's.

Went to the Pick Central-Canfield game. Left at halftime because it was so frickin' cold. Game was 21-7 Pickerington Central

I guess the game was something like 42-7 or 42-14 in the late-3rd to early 4th.

All Pickerington your thinking.............wrong. Final score ending up being 42-37, with Pickerington Central winning. Canfield almost pulled an incredible comeback.

3 Onside kicks I think, hard to believe they could recover 3

Pick Central and Fisher Catholic both won last night, so Fairfield County is 2-0 with three games tonight :)

Its hard to believe for me that they could do anything. While I was at the game, the best thing they could do was on their first drive. They had about a 60 yard pass, and run into the endzone like 2 plays later.

The rest of the half they couldn't get nowhere on that Pick defense. Except for a play here and there where they would get a few yards.

EDIT: Heres the box score of the game.....

I went to the Martins Ferry - Wellston game. Bad mismatch. Wellston has absolutely zero passing game, and they just couldnt run against Ferry's speed on defense. Their QB really look a pounding, and was actually puking at halftime because he got beat up so much (I heard later that he was sick, but I think it was an excuse, and the hits didnt help if he was). Ferry ended up winning 41-0.

How about Ironton getting beat by Westfall? Wow. Ironton played the whole game without their leading rusher, and also lost their leading tackler in the second half, but I guess Westfall's QB was just ridiculous. I guess it was like a Vince Young performance last night. They now play the winner of Bellaire, St. Clairsville.
