Green Will Dunk
Feb 3 - Gerald Green has been selected to participate in the All-Star Slam Dunk contest, an industry source confirmed yesterday. The official announcement will come Monday, and Green said he did not want to comment until then.

Green is the only player representing the Celtics during All-Star festivities.

Although Rivers did not know Green was in the dunk contest, he said, "It's not a big deal to me. I don't think I've watched it in I don't know how long. It'd be great for him. In some ways, you'd like him to rest, but any of that stuff is healthy and good as long as they stay healthy."

This guy can fly. Can't wait to see his dunks. Here are some previews:

Marbury: NBA Rigs Voting
3rd February, 2007 - 10:50 amNew York Daily News -
Stephon Marbury thought Eddy Curry was badly snubbed in not receiving an All-Star invitation and suggested that the league office, not the coaches decides who is selected.

"I think ultimately at the end of the day it comes down to the NBA," Marbury said. "I think the NBA picks the teams.

"A guy like Eddy, he's been playing at an All-Star level since the beginning of the year," Marbury said. "And he's not rewarded with it.

"The NBA, from what other people say, that they go by your record. But they can't say that because guys that made the All-Star team have played on a team that wasn't doing well. So, I just think that, me personally, I think it's a crime Eddy didn't make the All-Star team. I think he definitely deserves it. He was, by far, snubbed."

I certainly wouldn't label this impossible.

That first one was one of the best dunks that I have ever seen...

Have they announced the other contestants or just that Green is in?

I don't think they've been officially announced but I'm pretty sure Nate Robinson and Igoudala are doing it again. I'm guessing the last member will be Josh Smith (hopefully), Hakim Warrick, or JR Smith.

Smith Won't Dunk
Feb 5 - Josh Smith will not be a part of the 2007 slam dunk competition during All-Star weekend, Feb. 16-18 in Las Vegas.

The 2005 winner, Smith lost his title last season to New York Knicks guard Nate Robinson, who is expected to be among the field to be announced today. Smith said after last year's competition that he will no longer participate. -- Atlanta Journal-Constitution

I'm pretty sure I hears somewhere that Iguodala won't do it this year because he's still a little bit bitter about losing last year's contest. Everyone knows he should've won so I don't know if he'll do it again.

Thomas, Howard And Green To Join Nate In Dunk Contest
5th February, 2007 - 2:37 pmPress Release -

New York's Nate Robinson will defend his crown in the 2007 Sprite Slam Dunk competition to be held on NBA All-Star Saturday Night presented by EA SPORTS, Feb. 17 at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Robinson will compete against three first-time entrants ? Boston?s Gerald Green, who is an alumnus of the NBA Development League, Orlando's Dwight Howard and Chicago's Tyrus Thomas for this year's title.

Last year in Houston, the 5-9 Robinson outlasted Philadelphia's Andre Iguodala 47-46 in a dunk-off to become only the second sub-6-foot winner in contest history joining Spud Webb, the 1986 champion. Webb provided the bounce pass for Robinson's only 50-point dunk of the competition.

The first post in this thread has an article that says "Howard can literally kiss the rim and then dunk two basketballs."
