If you watch in the draft in the mid 2nd and on when the guys are the consensus top picks as they are in the first round Mel's ratings are totally different than how the guys are drafted...He will have guys on his top 20 still on teh board and they will stay on there for at times about 2-4 rds...

To me that says take his ratings with a grain of salt if you don't already...

He'll be drafted on the first day, but his size will keep him from being a first round pick. Now days it seems like they like their defensive tackles to be in the 310 LB range. That is why Branch is so highly coveted.

I'm not sure this adequately explains things. A month or so ago Pitcock was projected as a solid first round pick, with most projections I saw having him listed in the top 15. Now he's suddenly listed as a third rounder. The only way the size explanation would be applicable is if Quinn lost about ten pounds, and went down from 310 to the 301 he's currently listed at on Kiper's third round projection.

I dont get it. 310 pounds seems legitimate for a DT. Are they saying he is too small. That doesnt make sense at all. 310 pounds is a load to move, and Pitcock is tall to so hes not necessary short and fat, hes tall, and athletically fit for a DT. I dont understand............
