Sweed!!!

I like that Greg Davis has been immediately taking advantage of turnovers the past two seasons. I know 3 TDs in Sweed's video were on 1st down following a turnover (TTech, Neb, KSU), and that we went for a few more throughout the season.

Still, half of our fans will hold onto the idea that GD is conservative and calls too many WR screens.

OL is questionable, but the squeeky wheel gets the oil. Going into 05, the question was the WRs and VY's passing - wasn't a problem. Going into 06, the question was QB/TE - Colt developed awfully nice and Finley is a beast. If the OL comes around, a lot of school records (and possibly some NCAA records) are going to fall.

Meaningful suspensions from Mack. The TCU game is no walk in the park.

Texas suspends 2 players over DWI arrests

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) ? Texas defensive end Henry Melton and linebacker Sergio Kindle will miss the first three games of the 2007 season after being charged in separate DWI cases over the summer.

Melton and Kindle will also be held out of the first couple of days of practice and must perform community service for the team.

"I think we've got to send a message and kids have to learn," coach Mack Brown said on Sunday

The Longhorns reported Sunday for training camp for the upcoming season.
Kindle, a sophomore, was expected to compete for significant playing time this season. Melton, a converted running back, had moved to defensive end
full time in the spring.

Kindle and Melton will miss games against Arkansas State, TCU and Central Florida.

Their biggest loss was when the "D" co-ordinator left. Chizik.
They will win games but will not challenge for the National Title for a while.
Oklahoma will start to own them, again.

I'm not sure that Chizik is the reason that Big Game Bob began to struggle against UT. UT finally got the monkey off the back and started playing with confidence. That, combined with a lot of talent, has helped turn the tide as well. OU is going to need more offensive talent and a solid QB to compete with UT for the next few years.

Disagree.

Mike Stoops was more important to Oklahoma than Chizik was to Texas. The Texas roster has had, and will have, more talent than Oklahoma. We're going into Year 8 of Bob Stoops's tenure with the Sooners, and his QB situation now looks even more grim than it was when he got there. Without little bro' Mike calling the shots on D anymore, Oklahoma can't mask the fact that they've been shuttling out completely mediocre QBs for the past decade and winning with them.

USC exposed that squad in the 2005 Orange Bowl, and Oklahoma hasn't been the same since. Now, Adrian Peterson is gone too. I think Oklahoma is going to get worse before it gets better.

Texas WR Pittman suspended 3 games for borrowing friend's car

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) ? Texas suspended wide receiver Billy Pittman for three games Friday after learning he broke NCAA amateurism rules by borrowing a friend's car this summer.

In a statement, the Longhorns did not identify the friend but said the person had no connections to the school.

Pittman, a senior, was already going to miss Saturday's game for No. 4 Texas against Arkansas State with a shoulder injury. He will be eligible to return Sept. 22 against Rice.

"I want everyone to know I'm really sorry," Pittman said. "It was an honest mistake and I'll do everything I can to make up for it."
