2007 - Undrafted Free Agents

25 Best Undrafted Players of 2007

By Pete Fiutak

1. Dan Mozes, C West Virginia
One of the best centers in America for the last four years, he?s a smart quarterback up front who?s terrific on the move and tough as nails. He makes all the right line calls and is always in great position. He?s more of a technician than a bulldozer, but he can flat-out play.

2. Victor DeGrate, DE/LB Oklahoma State
After serving as a disruptive outside linebacker, he moved to the line. At only 250 pounds, he could potentially move back to a linebacker spot because of his quickness. If he can get bigger and show he can handle himself better against the run, he could be a major player as a tweener. The problem? He got nailed for marijuana possession a week before the draft.

Wow, Trannon didn't get drafted? For awhile that guy was unstoppable. Did he have some injury concerns or what?
I guess Trannon had a better potential of making the NFL than NBA, but I always felt he had a better impact for Izzo.

100-yard games:
2006: Eastern Michigan, Minnesota
2005: Notre Dame
2004: None.

Denver drafted so many DL and signed so many FA DLs they must be trying to keep all of them away from the rest of the NFL teams. All of those ex-Cleveland Brown defensive lineman are gone except for Warren and Meyers.

You know, people like to point out that Mike Shanahan was able to piece together a DL from the Browns' trash heap - as if that's some kind of indictment of the Browns just because the Broncos went to the playoffs despite the DL. That DL sucked in Cleveland, and it sucked in Denver too - and the Broncos' draft proves it.

Brandon Mitchell, S, Ohio State- Houston
T.J. Downing, OG, Ohio State- Arizona
Antonio Smith, CB, Ohio State- Indianapolis

Amazing. Good for Yao, and at least he knows he'll have guys to hang out with in Indy.

Given what Houston lacks in D and what AZ still needs OG, I like where the TJ and Mitchell ended up too. I think they'll have as good of a shot as UFA's can ask for.

I really hope that the Patterson to ATL is true...I think he has a great chance to make the team adding depth to the d-line...

He signed with a very good contract it seems. Link

OSU defensive tackle David Patterson might have come out the best of the undrafted bunch as he joined the Atlanta Falcons.
``It was a feeding frenzy,'' said Patterson's agent, Jonathan Feinsod. ``He ended up being the highest-paid (undrafted) free agent this year.''

The Indianapolis Colts grabbed their fourth Ohio State rookie, cornerback Antonio Smith, who will join draftees Anthony Gonzalez, Quinn Pitcock and Roy Hall.
``He fits their system and with (coach) Tony Dungy's obsession with Ohio State this year,'' said Smith's agent, Bradley Cicala. ``They have a lot of cornerbacks, but some are between safeties and corners. I think he'll be a good nickel.''

We'll all have to watch the Colts this year...
