2008 Open Night Practice (Monday, Aug. 18th)

Padraig

Jesus loves you, the rest of us think ur an idiot.
Former FF Keeper Champ
610 wtvn is reporting that the Open (to fans) Night Practice will be held Monday August 18th. They had no specific info on times (although they said that practice has usually started at 7 p.m.) or whether they are doing the autograph event before hand.

I called the Football Office (oddly enough, only a few hours before 610's report) to ask about the same event, but was told nothing had been scheduled at this time. So it sounds like it's still not completely set in stone, but probably a very likely possibility for that date, so you might want keep your caladars open for then for those interested.

I'll try to check with a couple of people to see if I can dig up any specifics.

:wink2:

Talked to someone on the OSU Event Management staff and someone from the Football Office:

Monday Aug. 18th is confirmed for the Night Practice @ Ohio Stadium. (all subject to change, of course ) No definite start time yet, but last couple years it's started at 7:00 p.m. with gates opening @ 5:00 I believe.

They do not believe they are doing a pre-practice autograph event this year, :( which bums me out because it was such a cool, well run event last year (being on the new turf, very organized and orderly) as oppossed to two years ago (crammed in the stadium concourse, crazy disorganized).

Anyway, I'm sure announcements with the specific times and info will be popping up in the papers and on the net soon for those interested.

That would stink if they don't do the autograph session...oh well looks like I'll be attending regardless :)

This has been preceded with an autograph session the past two years. Two years ago it was a mad house. Last year it was a grave yard. This year I expect it to swing the other way again with Pryor in attendance.

But as the Junkie says it is still a great time to take the kids up to see the stadium and some players in uni. If there are autographs you can at least walk on the field and take some snaps even if you don't want to wait in the lines.

Thought this deserved its own thread since open practices are so rare.

Will be in the evening. Details to be released later.

Great idea. Maybe that's why Padraig created a thread on it 24 hours earlier. :wink2:

You completely missed my point. Since open practices are so are EVERY poster should start a thread on this topic - instead of merging them and taking us in the opposite direction.

Whatever.

As for the autograph session - the presence of Pryor makes it tough. Even with the small numbers last year there were a number of people in line for JT and a few high profile players when it was time to clear the field (although they had to be late comers). With TP I could see folks camping out and still going hungry. You don't want to invite that.

Wow I wouldn't even attempt to get Pryors auto this year. I would've tried for Beanies, JL's, or Jenkins before they cost $50+ a pop.

august 18th practice...

i think they should have the autograph session like last year. It was very organized and you got to decide whos signature you wanted. I know i want the autograph session to happen again especially with pryor. But beanie, animal, and jt are going to be the most soght after. It was fun waiting in line chatting with other buckeye fans waiting for the autograph session. Be nice if we could get the college to have the autograph session or somehow influence the descion of having one. :osu::oh::io:

Two days before I leave down, score.

Suppose studying for my Spanish final can wait, :-P. I've been a season ticket holder for a couple years (I'm a student) but I've never made it to the night practice before--should be fun!

OSU football team to hold open practice a week from today

Monday, August 11, 2008 11:14 AM

The Ohio State football team will hold an open practice in Ohio Stadium on Aug. 18, the schools department of athletics confirmed today. Admission is free to the public.
Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. The Buckeyes are expected to arrive at 7:30 for their preseason practice under the lights, which will begin at about 8. There will not be an autograph session prior to practice.
The university suggests that fans use the Ackerman Road exit and park in the lots adjacent to the Schottenstein Center.
